I know everyone says 20 layer suits, but in fact they're more like 5-6 layers. The 20 comes from the SFI 20 rating. Which is based on a thermal test. A 20 suit should prevent 2nd degree burns upto 40 seconds.

The 2.4 *does* fit in a 1st gen. We had to make an oil pan, remote mount the oil filter, and create some motor mounts. Power steering/alternator brackets were a bit of a pain. The 2.0 dual cam head fits the 2.4 block and actually works really well with the 2.0 cams. Timing/cam phasing needs swapped 180' so there is some re-wiring of injectors and coils involved. The 1st gen trans bolts right up. Ours made close to 500 hp at the crank pushing 20 lbs boost on a smaller 16G turbo and we got the car down to 2400 lbs. The car was a F'n riot to drive and cleaned up the Rocky Mountain SCCA scene for a few years way back when..

I’m a turbo b series guys. The b series is going extinct. Have to think these things are 20-30+ years old now. Junkyards are out of that style Honda stuff. This is why the k series is becoming so popular.

Yeah, his SRT-4 ran 7.90 @ 188mph back in 2006 i think it was, hard to find the exact date (the video of it was uploaded in 2008). Those cars only came out in 2003. He also had some fast 1st gen Neons before that
@jasonholt8321Күн бұрын
Wow yes that's a throw back for sure. I saw that car run in person, and bought a set of stock take off SRT rods and pistons from that program that went into my 2.4 swapped 1st gen at the time.

32:30 The main reason for the rear crank windows was to keep the cost down. Dodge marketed the Neon SRT-4 as the fastest car you could buy under 20 grand. When it came out, the only faster Dodge vehicle at the time was the Viper. The front power windows manual rear was actually an option in Europe for a lot of small cars in the 90s early 2000s. I had an electric blue 2004 and I miss that car. I got so much hate. With a couple bolt on parts and a Diablo tuner it was legitimately fast and hurt a bunch of egos. I also had people hate on me because it popped and banged too much only for that to become a thing 15 years later. 😂

Definitely not 100% crossover. I grew up building Hondas, fwd, and awd import cars. Now that I’m an adult, I’ve grown up to building rear wheel drive cars. Less breaks, less oil downs, and always faster ET’s. front wheel drive drag racing is like off shore row boat racing. Sure it’s possible, but even the winner was beat by a local ferry with 60 cars on board and 200 people.

True, when your making 300 plus per hole in a 4 banger stock block even aftermarket blocks don't hold much more, I can make a 4 banger that will last but it will be half the size of a v8, an make 2500 pass after pass its all in the money you want to spend. I have both a 7 second rwd and a 8 second fwd

C85 is an expensive way to save on fuel system.. In the 60's ford diluted the methanol in the Indy cars with 20% toluene, for a 24% increase in economy, but with only a 2% reduction in power...till it was outlawed 🤌
