Saw BR live in St. Augustine 2 nights ago and Jamie was on fire the whole show. Man was doing crazy fast fills and singing backing vocals, and he didn't miss a single beat. BR is collecting amazing drummers like infinity stones

Holy sweet jebus! I love this song, but the drumming is sooo bland! It was the first song I learned to play in full. Miller cranked that shit up to 11 and made it his own! I would love to hear a re-recorded version of the song with these drums. That sounds amazing!

The drums on No Control were all the same. Brooks made Bad Religion better.
@franciscor.13254 жыл бұрын
@@AlmostaFlipinSkater Brooks did a great job in the studio, the problem was his live drumming, adding too much stuff to the old songs, Being a drummer myself, i can understand what happened to him, the original versions from Pete or Bob were at a level that was way below his skills as a drummer, so he felt he needed to add his touch, but sometimes it didnt work for a punk band. Jamie on the other hand, clearly has a lot of skills but his approach is a lot more straightforwards, he keeps it simple, and hits hard, and thus the band sounds a lot more powerful, kind of replacing Greg Hetson, because Mike Dimkich sounds thinner than Greg.
@AlmostaFlipinSkater4 жыл бұрын
@Francisco R. That's a fair perspective and Bobby and Pete are great drummers. However I can't view being extremely talented at one's instrument as a burden. I favor the most talented drummers in punk and I think Travis's debut made blink release a percent album with Enema. Brooks is an absolute machine and I love his additions on Generator and American Jesus live (I miss em too), his antics with Graffin, and his Sinister Rogue drums. The Defense is a perfect example of Brooks unprecedently improve Bad Religion. Around 24 seconds he goes around the kit on a brief yet incredible fill, then again in the next phrase. His departure legit made me sad. I miss Brooks but I'm so stoked that the world gets to finally see his talent, and myself too. The guy's a god. Him, Brett's return, and Bad Religion back on Epitaph revitalized Bad Religion with even more musical talent and taste. Since Brooks, every Bad Religion album has been incredible and diverse. Process was rooted in updated 21st century talented Bad Religion mixed with the classics, Empire expanded on that, New Maps was heavy and dark. 52 seconds. Dissent was folk with sprinkled speed, True North was 21st century retro, and Unreason is unique and expansive Bad Religion with new sounds and experimentations. End of History. Brooks and his Christmas album are my favorite Bad Religion albums. But so is Against the Grain, Generator, Suffer, Stranger Than Fiction, No Control, Recipe For Hate, Age of Unreason, How Could Hell Be Any Worse? Jamie is talented as well, but I do miss Brooks on a song like Chaos From Within.
