The fact that beauty YT's like you show such CLEAR quality up close shots of real skin with foundation on it is SO INCREDIBLE!!! When I started doing makeup in 2015 I thought there was something wrong with my skin because foundation did not look like what I saw online. Hi!!! Sephora BA here - I recommend you use a different base, I feel that the water cream is most likely not doing your skin justice under a formula like this one and you may need something richer. I am combo-oily and adore this foundation but I find skin prep is key because it is more of a natural finish as it sets which can be an issue for a dry gal. Great review, thank you for the lighting changes and closeups 😇

I was shocked at how much I loved this foundation after the first use. I have combo skin that leans dry and I used the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré as my base for moisture + a little bit of Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas on the pores in my t-zone. My skin looked so fresh, healthy and natural, which are all the things that I look for after application. It’s always a bummer when something you want to enjoy doesn’t pan out how you want it to. I hope you try it again. I’m sure you already moisturize your skin very well but I’d say add some extra moisture to your nose and see what happens. Otherwise, onto the next foundation!

A tip with this foundation for dry skinned peeps - mix in a little facial oil with your moisturiser and use hands rather than brush to the foundation. This really helps the product to melt into the skin. You should definitely try it again with a heavier/more emollient moisturizer underneath, and maybe with a sponge instead of fingers or brush. I have combination skin, and I'm in love with how my skin looks with this foundation! Doesn't cling in my drier areas and controls my oils in other areas. I find that using my fingers with any med to full coverage foundation creates this patchy/dry looking texture, so I always use sponge or brush! :)

So I'm in my mid-30s and this foundation was SO hyped... So of course I had to try it. Let me mention also that I am definitely on the dry side. I thought it felt nice going on, and it also LOOKED nice at first... but as it settled in, I HATED how it made emphasis on each of my lines, pores, and dryness. Like, as I made facial movements, I could literally see how each pore constricts and contracts... if that makes sense. It started lifting around my T-zone and it just was NOT my jam. Now the Natural Radiant foundation by NARS is a WHOLE different story. I'd say for maturing skin or those on the dry side, the light reflecting foundation is just not your journey. I'd say that it is much more for youthful or perhaps those with normal-oily skin types.

This is the review I’ve been waiting for lol I’m on the same boat with Nars. I either love their individual items or my skin doesn’t like it. I love their radiant creamy and soft matte concealers , eyeshadow palettes (certain ones), and only their soft matte foundation. I think Nars foundation either works for you well or it doesn’t. I would say it’s definitely a foundation for skin that’s normal to oily cause I’ve had issues on my drier days too. Basically skin texture needs to be perfect for it to work. I love most Nars foundations myself but my skin is definitely more normal than dry.

Is the inkey list moisturizer the only thing you put on in your skincare routine? That might be why the foundation didn't sit on smoothly cuz you might need to expand your skincare routine. I have a dry skin as well and I do like 5 steps routine before I put on my makeup. Like others have said, richer moisturizer might help to prep! Like protini from drunk elephant, or skin fix, or adaptogen cream from youth to the people. Just my 2 cents! Great video though!!

The first time I wore this it accentuated dry patches all over my cheeks that I didn't even know that I had. It looked greasy, but also flaky by midday and it was bizarre. I ended up trying this one in a sample, and I don't totally love it. I have dry skin, and I don't usually have visible dry/flaky patches, but I hate it when I can see foundation gathering on dry areas. I found that the Nars was a tad bit drying on me, and I already have a very thorough skincare routine. I saw some extra texture that wasn't visible before applying foundation. As the day went on it showed up in between my eyebrows and around my chin. I also have a pretty fair skin tone and got mont Blanc, and the color was not quite right. It was too yellow, but the cool one was way too pink. I got the sample in store and mont Blanc was my best match. Around the same time I also tried the no 1 de Chanel foundation and it blew the Nars out of the water for me. I think the oil in the chanel one helps my skin stay hydrated, but it does have a fragrance.

I love it and I have dry/dehydrated, but large pores and sensitivity and this works perfect for me. I don’t feel it on my skin, and it wears amazingly. I powder mid day with their crystal powder to tone down the extra glow and it still looks amazing. I also warm it between my fingers, stamp it on my face and then use my brush to spread it and press it on. This has quickly become my favourite foundation ever. Gorgeous Jamie looks so beautiful on you, so sad it didn’t wear well in the center of your face. I would suggest some heavier skin prep with a focus on exfoliating and more moisturizing. Maybe even a hydrating primer 🤷🏼♀️ Can’t wait to see if this ends up working for you

Apparently this is supposed to replace the sheer glow foundation. I’m curious why you didn’t like sheer glow. I tested this yesterday and it started breaking up on my chin within 2 hours. I didn’t use my normal primers, but the rest of it lasted for 12+ hours and when I touched up it looked great on my chin. Also, all of Nars complexion products are supposed to be applied with the fingers. That’s how they formulate them. Obviously you can apply how ever you like though.

I bought this too and Same thing happened! I have dry skin and have to mix it with something more glowy/hydrating or else I look cakey esp on chin (but it looks amazing on my forehead loll)

Not the one for me then. I have very dry and mature skin. I hate it when foundation looks cakey. Ideally, I really don't see it.

Me too! it was the chin for me. It just looked like it was sitting in my pores like curdled milk.

Hiiiii Jamie!💓 I also HATE putting on any makeup product (especially foundation) with my fingers hahaha also can I just say your skin looks FLAWLESS?!

Thank you for the informative video. I use Clinique 7 day scrub 3 days a week to remove flakey skin. In the summer, I also use Clinique toner for dry skin to remove oil and flakes before foundation. This foundation works over Elta Uv clear or Supergoop glow screen

Maybe try to exfoliate well, use a good moisturizer and then try the Tacha primer. It looks amazing on my skin when I do these steps.

From my experience all nars foundation effortless to blend n spread only with finger and sit very well on my skin. This new foundation my new fave, aside sheer glow.

I’m wearing it today around university and want to see if yours is matching the effect mine is having. Granted my mask has been on and off and I’m sporting a beanie, but it looks dry in some areas :( My other base never looks like this.

I have dry skin and the foundation had the same effect on my skin after wearing it? Almost like separation? I like it when I first put it on but I might use a thicker cream before I apply it, I saw that would make it last better. Hopefully it works out! I really like it 😬

I'm confused by these shades NARS.. I was going to get the Salzburg for light with warm untertones but after seeing your swatches the fiji which is for light to medium skin with warm undertones was way lighter?! I feel there are a lot of mixed reviews for both of these foundations.. now I'm unsure which one to try! Thanks for reviewing both! xx

the undertones are def kinda all over the place! if you're able to make it in store to swatch, that is def your best bet!

I have combo skin, my chin always breaks up makeup within hours. Since you had this experience on dry skin, I think I might try it😬 The new CT one is gorgeous but I’m pretty sure it’s breaking me out 😢.

Thanks for saving me money ❤❤❤! I have the same issue as yours around the nose area with many foundations and they end up accentuating my dryness so I am sure this one will do to.

I know you said you preferred the brush side but on camera it’s showing the fingers side as having much better coverage

Any thoughts on whether this is similar to the It Cosmetics your skin but better foundation? The claims seem similar.

i watched this before heading to sephora and getting it for myself, but I should've just listened to you bc it CLINGS on my dry spots. I still might keep it though since I love the look from further away, it feels so lightweight, and it could be good for the summer time

I like a lot of NARS complexion products, except the soft matte foundation. I have dry skin and love this foundation which I picked over the CT one. I use it with the soft matte concealer
