Bought an me-6b on ebay last week and finally have this dynamic filter sound at my fingertips. It's very addictive playing this tune with it (I also have an old Warwick Streamer Stage 1)! Just need to wax up my hair and complete those Zender-return-of-the-space-cowboy vibes 😆

Love your comment Bloophero! I personally own a 1987 Warwick streamer stage 1 with the schaller bridge, it is a monster of a bass! I love the woody sound i get out of it, how light and small the bass is and the curvy body that fits really well when playing standing up. Which year is yours? I also love those old boss pedalboard! I have the me-6b and me-8b but both are in a rough shape unfortunately. You only need the trace elliot along the shaved head to complete the Zender Cowboy vibe man! Cheers

@@Gormit Mine's a 1991 Stage 1, those hand carved curves are just so unbelievably gorgeous. Topped only by the sound - that classic Warwick woody growl. I still have my ME-8B that I bought around 1997 (thinking it was the same pedal as Zender, which he did use, but not on that album or on the earlier tours), it was only recently that I discovered it was an me-6b (hence the ebay purchase). I often wondered why I couldn't quite get those sounds (The Kids etc). The wah on the ME-8B is similar, but not quite *that*. I'm weird, my ME-8B still has the polythene wrapper on the yellow section and over the display (looks a tad bubbly, but underneath it'll be like new - hopefully). I might peel it off one day... It's been gigged hard too - outdoor gigs in the mud, all sorts! I also have a Trace Elliott (as all fan boys must!) I like to keep it, so I can model newer (lighter weight amps) on the sound, side-by-side. Now where are those hair clippers!?

@@bloophero 1991 stage 1 would be the same model Stu used to record too young to die right? The natural one with thin stripes ?I’m sure you know much more than I do! You have an amazing setup! Personally, i would kill for the sound Mr Zender had on the all white streamer 5 string Bass… I know it was a very different sound from the studio and lives we were used to from 92 to 95 but i don’t know how to explain it… it’s like the painted white lacquer of the fretboard did something to the sound because when i listen to Sonny T (prince’s bassist who plays with Cory Wong)I hear big similarities in the sound (although he plays an all white dolphin 5 string bass). There also was the iroquai bass and the chrome in 98 that he briefly used on a deeper undeground performance but those seems to be axes he only used live. I had read that he often used a Fender Precision bass in the studio! Thanks for your comment again!

@@Gormit I think it probably is the same year as Stu's original Stage 1 - I'd love to see his serial number and find out how close they are. In the late 90s I used to rehearse at Sensible Music in Kings Cross. It was the same time Zender was playing with Simon Katz and Miss Dynamite and they used to rehearse there too. He had his Stage 2 (4-string) and Alembic Epic there (and would leave them in the warehouse), I was hoping he'd have his Stage 1 (so I could finally check the serial number) ha! I wasn't sure of Zender's later tones, a touch too much compression for my taste. But I did like the thump from his Mesa Boogie setup. Might have to get one one day, but they're quite pricey! Thanks for all your isolation videos, only found them this evening. Fascinating to inspect them! (To see what I missed after 30 odd years of repeated visits)

@@Gormit You see his 64 Fender Precision on the Incognito Love Born In Flames video. It's interesting, because he strings it with a lower-B string (rather than the E you normally get on a 4-string bass)
