Lead singer Jay Kay was born Jason Luís Cheetham in Stretford, London on 30 December 1969, the son of English cabaret singer Karen Kay and Portuguese guitarist Luís Saraiva. He did not meet his biological father until 2001. Kay's identical twin, David, died a few weeks after the two were born. Wikipedia.

Bro I have been checking your reactions out the last couple days and they are spot on....great work and really cool selections.....I really dug Black Cow by Steely Dan. Walter Becker (lead, slide guitar) and Donald Fagen (vocals, keys) are two world class musicians trained at Peabody where they met. They are prolific songwriters and have more great songs than just about anybody. All during the 70's, 80's and 90's it was just one hit after another but they never went on tour.....Their best Rock and Roll can be heard on two selections.....SHOW BIZ KIDS (Becker is filthy on the slide) and BLACK FRIDAY ( a crime scene, they murder this one). Your Steely Dan experience isn't complete until you hear these two.....trust me, I've been a rock fan since the early 70's.

I had exactly the same reaction as you mid 90s when I heard Space Cowboy - just couldn't believe how good their sound was. And unique!. Just go ahead and listen to their fantastic output. I don't get that much Stevie (and had a similar reaction when hearing I was made to love her for the first time, so have loved Stevie for even longer). I really think Jay Kay's an original talent.

*Another Excellent* choice of song. Here are the song suggestions from comments under your Space Cowboy reaction, and here. Maybe investigate setting up a poll, so your YT or Patreon community can rank them? Provisional list of Jamiroquai songs from _Space Cowboy + Virtual Insanity_ =35+19 comments (songs in no particular order): _Too Young To Die_ _Mr. Moon_ _Time Won't Wait_ _7 Days in Sunny June_ _Traveling Without Moving_ _When You Gonna Learn?_ _Whatever it is, I just can’t stop_ _If I like it, I just do it_ _Just another story_ _Angeline_ _Canned Heat_ Reacted to: _Space Cowboy_ _Virtual Insanity_ BTW - Yoyoka, the young Japanese drummer, has made 'solo' covers of Jamiroquai's: _Space Cowboy_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2qzaaqXqs-Mnq8 _Virtual Insanity_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIrbm6qEZZ2Yh80 So you might compare original and Yoyoka as a different type of reaction video? _Virtual Insanity_ is definitely different to the original. Her _Space Cowboy_ has more 'sparkle' to me.

Jah-Meer-Oh-Qu-Eye. Impossible to mess up version. lol Or just Jay Kay for the singer. :p Great track. This was a nice surprise! This group is funky as hell. I first happened upon them in '98, when they did the Godzilla soundtrack (dope song btw, 'Deeper Underground'). Everything's a vibe. :) Edit: And you're right, not a lot of funk groups anymore. Jamiroquai's really helping to keep that sound alive.

Time to watch them live. Start with the early years though as that’s when they were more funk than disco. As already commented on, Stuart Zender (bassist) was only a teenager when the band formed. The thing about Jamiroquai is that it feels to me like you could just go listen to Stevie Wonder, since he did it better, and first.
