I'm currently working on a Northern Expressions piece and it has "pinecones" made completely of queen stitches. Also I must be crazy because I'm stitching it on 40ct linen. This visual really helped me to make sure I am doing them correctly! Thank you Jan!!!

I haven’t heard about this stitch except from your channel. I can see it will be a very pretty stitch. I am going to try it. You’re great. Thanks so very much!

When I was a kid, at Halloween we would get sampler of candies and it would be frosty outside. Now that I am older I can’t wait for spring. 😁 Love your videos and being a part of your community.

I’m with you! Give me spring! 😁

Glad you showed how to do it. It sounded more complicated than it looked when you did it.
@JanHicksCreates4 жыл бұрын
And I think that’s true of a lot of stitches. They aren’t as hard as they look. Of course, there are other ones that are as hard as they look! Lol

Great video! I've done the queen stitch for one sampler but did it from reading directions. This really made more sense.

So helpful to see it done. I always have problems going by some line drawing. Thanks!

Thank you Jan for the tutorial. I have never done that stitch but think it would look great as a different border on a stitched piece.

You made it look so easy. I'll have to try it on some large count fabric, 25 ct. Jobelyn or Lugana, perhaps. Thanks so much.
@JanHicksCreates4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this was 25 ct lugana that I was using. But definitely give it a try and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Jan, I love learning new stitches and this was really clear. I also had watched some other videos that sort of contradicted each other but never acknowledged the various ways to do it. I have started crewel work and I am finding so many new stitches it is so much fun, but a l!little pricey. Stay safe and sane

Thanks Carol! Crewel work! Fun! I love doing specialty stitches, so I’m going to see what I can come up with to do more of them!

Jan , I’m new at this but very adventurous, now I’m trying to go ahead and do something a little harder. My question is , if I come across a Stitch I never did before, or have never seen ,ref. QUEEN STITCHES… Is it OK to just use a simple CROSS Stitch in its place ….. I watch YOU ALL THE TIME and have Learned so much from you …….THANK YOU ♥️
@JanHicksCreates3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Genevieve! I am glad you are finding my videos helpful. As for replacing stitches, yes you can totally replace with just cross stitch. I think you would need to check first that the area of the original stitch would work out for full crosses. For example, is there is a flower in satin stitch, can you replace that area with full crosses or would there be some “leftover” space where a full cross wouldn’t fit. Hard to explain in words, so let me know if this makes sense or if a video would help. I could include this as a tips and tricks in a video.

Can this stitch be effective on 14ct Aida? What was the cloth you were demo-ing on? Single thread? Ever two strands? I LIKE this stitch 😊.
@JanHicksCreates4 жыл бұрын
Hi Pat! Unfortunately, I don’t have any aida here to experiment on, so I can’t say for sure. I was using a 25 ct evenweave for this demo, a single thread. My sense says that you wouldn’t get the right coverage on 14 ct aida, even using 2 strands, but I would need to try it out and see. Sorry I can’t give you a more definitive answer at this point.
@sarahgreiner26944 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I'd never heard of this stitch. Maybe you could do a small seasonal specialty stitches series of patterns? Like pick 4 interesting/less well known stitches, put at least 1 in each (so each have the 4 specialty stitches) and feature 1 prominently on each season.

That’s a really cool idea! You’ve started my brain a thinking! ❤️

I’m having a hard time seeing the holes on 32 Ct beige, using mag eyes the strongest lens, plus I’ve used another magnifier with a light on it, do you have any suggestions it’s a wedding sampler I’ve been working on for 14 yrs and now want to finish it for my son, maybe a different stitch?
@JanHicksCreates3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you might want to just sub in a different stitch just to make it easier and get it done! No one will know you did that except you. Good luck!

Can the queen stitch be done on Aida?
@JanHicksCreates Жыл бұрын
I think it would be a bit difficult, because you’d have to split the Aida squares, but it might be worth trying it out to see what you think.

Every demo i have looked at has been different for this stitch. Jan, you should try to center your work a bit. Your work was almost off camera at times.
@JanHicksCreates4 жыл бұрын
Yes, sorry about that. It is very hard some times to center the work on camera and still be able to see the stitches. I do the best I can. I am pretty sure that people were able to see enough to understand what was going on.
