I have great respect for Mr. Petersen. A person with advanced dementia has already “died.” Caregiving for those persons is grueling & emotionally exhausting, and your decisions are disapproved of by clueless onlookers. Giving of yourself exhaustingly without getting any input will render you ineffective. I applaud Petersen for finding a source of input, i.e., a caring partner, rather than abandoning Jan. I am a 20-year TBI caregiver.
