Hey Jan and Ann, welcome back in the Island, work in Waikiki at the Royal Haw’n Hotel (the Pink Palace) and later at Sheraton Waikiki. Those are my favorite poke bowls, ahi ( yellow fin tuna) and salmon so buttery. I’m so excited, and impressed, with your video quality including the drone shots, the music choice are so appropriate. You’re not only an awesome couple, but your editing is incredible. Mahalo and Aloha, braddha and sistha, Shaka🤙🏼🤙🏼
That fish at Tamashiro Market is a Parrotfish or Uhu in Hawaiian. They make the sand on the beaches by biting coral to get the plants and produce sand out the back.

We climbed Diamond Head on our visit. Two places I highly recommend are Marukame Udon and Waiahole Poi Factory. Marukame Udon usually has a long line but so worth it! One of the best places we ate at. For authentic Hawaiian food the Waiahole Poi Factory was it. Great food at a good price. Definitely a must visit.

The malasada filling @ 10:25 is actually haupia(How-pee-yah) naturally sweet, some places add tapioca or arrowroot powder to thicken, much like cornstarch+ water= slurry to thicken gravies
@JanandAnn Жыл бұрын
Oh okay okay! Thanks!
@jonh.7661 Жыл бұрын
Hard to say which filling they had. If it was white and tasted like coconut, it was Haupia. If it was more yellow it might have been their classic custard cream or maybe even passion fruit (lilikoi).

13:11 Sandy Beach is exactly like most of our Beaches here in Sydney and the NSW coast of Australia 🇦🇺. A bit rough and tumble but that’s how we like it 🤙
@hawaiiguy1 Жыл бұрын
don't go swimming at Sandy's ... the waves break right at the shoreline.... if you body surf and want to try out it there --- DON'T, the place is ONLY for experienced body surfers --- famous enough that the beach is known by locals as *the place with the cause of most neck injuries from being in the water* .

Catching up on one of your recent videos from a few months ago. Love Hawaii. I have been there twice. Most recently in October 2021. However, there were a lot of Covid restrictions back then and it made going to some places a little challenging. Glad it appears all normal now with no restrictions. I did enjoy Diamondhead, but I am not in the best of shape and went at 11:30am and it was absolutely brutal. Leonards is awesome, however I didn't get a chance to go on my last visit. Malasadas are an awesome breakfast. Good job putting this together. I look forward to catching up.
