I liked Jane with both. She needed Michael at the time and he was her first soulmate. He taught her how to love and set boundaries. But Rafael is her last soulmate. And they weren’t cookie cutter like she and Michael. They had to fight for each other over and over again and to me Michael was a part of her love story. He just wasn’t her endgame and that’s okay because he was never meant to be.

Alex Ayala I totally agree here. It is just annoying that the writers made Michael come back so Jane can choose Rafael. They ruined his good character just to make the old triangle and secure Rafael masculinity in a bad way. Rafael was perfect for Jane and I was totally on board with them, but then Michael came back... Now I’m team Michael again just because I know how much they loved each other before he “died”. Now he is there to not make Rafael doubt that if Michael was a live she would not have chosen me. They showed Abuela over her deceased husband with grace, but can’t do that with Jane. Love triangles are shitty plot points made for drama and writers reheated and expired meal. Sorry for the random rant, but I love the show but last season pissed me off. Jane and Raf are perfect together in a world after Michael aren’t live to be used as a tool and garbage by the writers for a love triangle no body asked for or wanted.

Jane and Rafael are in love with the idea of each other because that's what their entire relationship was built off of. Michael and Jane are soulmates. The bond that Jane and Michael had was more than just romance. I can't really explain it but what Michael had with Jane is something that Rafael could never achieve. I mean yes, she has chemistry with Rafael but what she had with Michael was on a far higher level.

I like Rafael, but honestly I don't think he should be with Jane. He got mad at her for wanting to re-explore things with her husband, her litteral true love, when she found out Micheal wasn't dead. Like, it was almost like he expected her to see Micheal, shrug, and leave with him and forget about the man she wrote her debut novel about. And then there's that whole thing where he let Mateo hate his own mother because he was feeling petty about Micheal. And though he apologized, one of those times Mateo ran from Jane could have ended with him being hurt. After Micheal died, and even a little after he came back, I was team Rafe until he started behaving like that. If he had just let Jane figure things out instead of getting pissed off because she still has feelings for her husband, I would have been more satisfied with their marriage.
