I never use the word "delightful"... but she was delightful here! And she turned 95 this year. 👍

Miss Withers suffered her fair share of personal trauma (a bout with paralysis, the death of her husband in a plane crash, to name a couple of things), but she never lost her zest for life, her humor, her positivity. She's marvelous here.

I loved the Tomorrow Show and Tom Snyder so much! I don't think I missed an episode. I wish they were more available - the same with Jack Paar.

Performers like Jane Withers wouldn't be given the time of day on TV in 2021. Everything is so youth obsessed.

I went to the ground-breaking of the new Academy Museum a few years ago and one of my good friends accompanied Jane Withers to the event so I was able to pal around with her. One of the docents took us on a short tour of some of their artifacts. They showed Jane a statuette of the Maltese Falcon and Jane said "oh, I have one of those." The docent replied "Miss Withers, This one was from the movie." Again Jane said "I have one of those" and the docent replied "I don't think you understand...this is one of them that was actually used in the movie." Then Jane said "I don't think YOU understand...Jack Warner was a very good friend of mine and I loved the movie so much that I called and told him so. He told me they used 9 of them in the movie and would i like one?" The docent looked a little embarrassed.

It’s 2023, it broke Debbie’s heart that she could never get the definitive MGM Museum. As her son Todd has the archives and collection now, he said MGM really stupid not to have done that big museum. Now? It would really be a huge draw. There are new generations who love those old movies and they would be going to it!

Many people have tried to make a museum work but most failed. One exception that was successful was the Roy Rogers Museum. I think it succeeded because Roy Rogers would often come out of his office in the back room to visit with the guests and he spent most of his retirement days there. It was closed due to lack of customers in 2009 and the assets sold at auction.
@MTknitter22 Жыл бұрын
Yes and the family generously had that auction and Roy and Dale’s fans were there to get precious items from cars to furniture!!

Do you have a tape of Sam Peckinpah on Tomorrow: Tom Snyder, aired September 4, 1974? From what I've heard, Sam was in great form. I hope you will publish it. Many thanks!
