Love Lace she’s not underrated. She’s not as popular simply because she’s never on scandals or doing features with big name artist on a regular. All her tour shows sale out and her albums always do numbers. Don’t confuse not being in the spot light with underrated.

By the mainstream public yes, but she sure is not underrated by other top rated artists.. Some of the people that worked with her are Prince, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Esperanza Spalding, Nile Rodgers, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrel Williams, Outkast, Grimes etc etc.. Even the few movies she did were of the highest quality, with the 1st ever she did (Moonlight) winning the Oscar for best picture.. When Janelle does something she does it good.. But to become really successful in the mainstream and in the charts I think her work is just a bit to deep touching on sensitive topics in society and politics.. She's an activist.. She only did one shallow entertainment song in recent years without a real message, which was Yoga, and that was also (by far) her most successful single ever in the charts, which I think proves my point..

I love this performance, this constant back and forth with the dance crew -- it adds to the meaning of the song in a way you just don't get from the audio alone.
