This is a great game. Even though there might be some opinions to be had about the Vietnam War, the Vietnam Campaign of USNF '97 was truly awesome.

I remember spending hours in this game... IT WAS EXELENT!!! I was like 15 years old when I started playing it... at that time it was an exelent grafhics and stuff... well, I join the propose of mailing "the Fat Man" to release this song... is cool, and it would be grat to drive while listening because I could feel like im flying and F-4!!!

I loved the 1960's version of the USNF soundtrack played in the intro. Is there an actual song from a band or just a generic soundtrack produced for this game? I must have spent hours playing USNF 97, ATF gold and Fighter's Anthology.

Didn’t have USNF 97 but I had Janes Fighters Anthology which had this game combined with Janes ATF and the NATO fighters game. Made a great game even better, lot of good memories playing this game for hours including this Vietnam campaign. You can still play Fighters Anthology on windows 10 but you need the patch that corrects its timing.

I'm pretty sure it's been recorded by The Fat Man (George A. Sanger), general theme sounds similar to the original USNF intro which also is a track that plays throughout the series while flying. I do like this "sounds like early 70s" version a lot as well :)

could you fly the f-14 in this game? ive been looking for a flight simulator game that you can fly an f-14. the only one ive been able to fly that plane in is the old top gun..

Yes you can fly it in Janes Fighters Anthology which I highly recommend, just look for at least the version 1.02 patch for it to work correctly

@@qpSubZeroqp I’ve actually got fighters anthology to work on windows 10 if you run in compatible mode and and have the patch that fixes it to run on faster processors because the original release version was programmed for much older and slower processors; relying on cpu timing and not real time so it ran super fast on a modern cpu. But the patch was made by the Janes team with version 1.02. That’s much cheaper to get that for now if you can find a Download version or have a dvd or cd rom on you pc or at least an external reader already. Hours of fun playing that one while your waiting DCS F-14 to come down. Or you can get DCS F-15 for about 15 bucks I actually have that and the A-10 warthog on DCS. There is also a mod to turn the F-15 in an F-22 Raptor but the F-22 is also in Fighters Anthology so is the the A-10, Mig 29, Mig 31, and SU-35 and lots of others. There’s is Even hidden in the game files a DOS helicopter simulator game called LHX I think that’s runs and plays in MS-DOS (you could also try to run it DOSbox on windows) The game uses some of the files from LHX to run the comp controlled helicopters in FA. Lol 😂

To me it looks like some form of hung ordnance, most likely an external fuel tank that failed to fully disengage from the aircraft and causing a fuel leak that was most likely causing the spray effect. Course, I could be wrong but that looks about the right position where the external fuel tank would be. I never got to work on F-4s much as F-15s were coming into service so while all of my basic aviation maintenance was done on an F-4 and F-101, lol, the plane I knew the best was the F-15.

The bombings in WWII were mostly indiscriminate due to the lack of efficient/ reliable targeting tech. i.e., my g-dad had to take cover every time there was a bombing raid in Germany despite the fact he wasn't near any military target. Japan had 2 nukes dropped killing thousands and bringing the empire to their knees. Vietnam, we had targeting tech but no balls. Iraq, our tech is as good as it gets, INTEL is so so, and our only enemy is the media. Bombing CAN change the direction of a war.
