@@randomboys1000 Not really, sometimes you need some time for yourself and depending on the plattform getting information/ messages from your or about your ex might still drag you down and hurt. In that case it is much better to get some distance (that is all a temporary block really is) just like you would irl. You probably wont visit the same coffee shop for a while or go to the same gym at the same time until you are really over the breakup. Nothing childish about that. Just taking the necessary time to find your way to get over the fresh emotions and take steps to recalibrate the relationship to a friendship.

In my personal opinion you can, granted there have to be a reason to keep contact. My parents divorced when I was young but were gradually able to mend the relationship in an amicable friendly way for both me and my brother to grow up feeling comfortable. They don't have any remaining feelings as my mom is married and my dad is okay with just being a single dad. I think exes can be friends after the fact if they have a mutual reason to be(such as children). Also sometimes I think exes can become friends if they were friends prior to the relationship, and their foundation was not romantic to begin with if you get what I am saying.
