This song made me essentially fall in love with studying music: chord progression, the percussion and of course backing vocals. With the album version it drowns out the backing vocals on the chorus: "Luhvvvv...Wronggggg...Love Will Never Do Without You."

She needs to re-release all her albums as acapella.
@LeeDfined2 жыл бұрын
She layers her vocals different than most artist which is why hers has such a heavenly sound. She typically does three tones with multiple stacks...then she hums under them to add volume. Before we even had technology to deconstruct songs I heard the parts and would remind this song over and over to hear the harmonies that were under the harmonies. She probably spent hours to get them how they turned out.

Exactly!!! The layering in the intro of Come Back To Me is ridiculously genius..

Wow I never thought she actually hit the high note at the end. Always thought it was a studio trick honestly.

People forget harmonizing is in Janet’s blood. She’s a Jackson and she started singing backup on her brothers recordings . She’s in Thriller album singing on Pyt by Michael Jackson and Michael sang back up on Janet’s first two albums. All of the Jackson’s naturally can self harmonize and understand background vocals and harmony. I’m glad Brandy gave Janet props for background vocals because Janet Jackson is truly the best at arranging and stacking harmonies

How does she get her background vocals to sound like that?

She stacks them to get a fuller sound

She has a natural ear for self harmonizing. She also hums under some of them and does stacks in multiple tones.

Okay, serious question is - why is it only one song where she used her deep powerful voice? She could record many songs and made hits from them if she use her full vocal range.
@adua782 жыл бұрын
She used it a bit oh “If” and “You.”

I heard that the first verse of this song was supposed to feature a male vocalist (supposedly Luther Vandross), and Janet sang the demo as if she were a man. But she ended up recording it by her self and just kept the vocals like that.

Terry Lewis and Janet. She simply does multi stacks. She may not have a super strong voice but she has a ear for self harmonizing and stacks her own vocals. She also hums to add depth and tone.
@michaelvasek39742 жыл бұрын
@@LeeDfined but she has strong voice, are you deaf how she did main vocals with deep voice? 😀 For some reason she sung only this song with full vocal range.
@LeeDfined Жыл бұрын
@michaelvasek3974 am I deaf? Are you blind? The commenter said there are other people. I explained how she does her own vocals. So wtf are you talking about am I deaf? Are you?
