It amazes me how blind people are. People always howl and scream about Britney Lip Syncing yet Janet magically projects her voice into the speakers without any microphone at all? Her voice isn't heavily depended on being mechanically manipulated to make her sound like a singer. AND Also she DOES Sing LIVE at least some of her songs like the ballads and even a lot of her dance songs on her current and recent world tours while still being able to keep up with her choreo. Not every one is capable of doing that. It takes a lot of energy, trust me iKnow. I've never really seen Britney sing live and dance and sing live flawlessly non stop for long periods of time. And if she does it's not nearly as flawless as JANET's , GAGA's or Madonna's. Every Pop star lip syncs to their on music and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you can bring it and give your all on a show and sing for at least some of the show. This was the 80s a time when a lot of pop stars who danced didn't sing live as much as most singers. As long as they knew it was your voice they just wanted to see you perform and dance your ass off ON BEAT if that's what you were known for.

Btw Brit sang live alot more when she was in her very very early years, the problem is though her natural singing voice doesn't sound like what they made her sing in and if you watch some very early performances of hers she actually is singing and there are parts where her normal voice cracks through and it sounds really weird because she has a naturally deep singing voice (for a lady, and compared to what they make her sing in). I mean now a days, she rarely rarely sings live, and even in the later half of her 'Golden years' she didn't sing live alot and I know that, and don't really care, I just love to see her perform. Btw, Gaga is a very talented singer, but dancing and performance wise it's not as good as Britney was in her prime, and they are both very different artists so it's not really fair to compare them anyways.

80's and the 90's are actually fine when it come to vocal talent, live or not as long as you have the integrity to perform. Janet Jackson was a pioneer to lip sync in TV shows, awarding ceremonies etc. Cher, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul and other Pop, R&B, Dance and Hip hop movement that time lip synced for shows well except for tours. Without Janet, Britney will not lip sync on half of her career. I ain't hating on Britney because Janet loves Britney too(she attended several tours of Britney). Janet did a great job of entertaining people back in the 80's and 90's before these basic pop hoes like taylor swift, katy perry, lady gaga or even nicki minaj without doing something weird and creepy.

@M T No, I disagree. Lipping, not singing live, whether or not to your own vocals, is still lipping. The only crime in lipping is lying to your audience when they came for a live performance. I think most people know that artists who do more than just sing, like Janet, Madonna, Michael, lipped sometimes, though MJ unevenly did A LOT, but wouldn't you feel cheated if an entire concert were lipped, even to their own voices?

Would you be satisfied if Mariah lipped to playback for 90 minutes? I would be pissed and probably walk out of the venue, because I can tell the difference. They all playback at certain points, but to lip sync straight through, even to their own vocals would be a sin to me and worthy of a refund demand. Also, you're thinking with a modern brain. In this performance, again, this was when the lip-synching police hung out on every corner lol.

I think it was common for that period. They wanted to keep the audience excited with dancing and theatrics, not actual singing live. All that changed when lip sync was used on overload during the late 90s and people started doubting artists and their vocal talent. So they needed to prove themselves by singing live, and having little choreo to match.

You mentioned that Janet is good at dancing while Beyoncé is good at dancing and singing at the same time. I would love to see Beyonce following the Miss You Much, If and Rhythm Nation choreo while singing because truth be told, her choreos are pretty easy compared to the complex dance routines Janet is doing. I admire her for doing it all in heels and it's clear, she has been putting hard work on her performances. A young Janet (as well as a 50 year old Janet) still outdances her by far, while Beyoncé can sing Janet under a table. Janet was never a belter or a powerhouse vocalist. Yet, she has attempted to sing many genres including pop, rock, rnb, rap, country. I never denied Beyoncé's skills as a performer and I am not hater. I simply don't bow down to her like most people do because I don't see her doing anything original. Nothing mindblowing. She is taking everything that has been done before her and doesn't bring something new to the table. And yes, she is the best of this generation but when you are surrounded by mediocre singers like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, Beyonce is bound to look like a Goddess. Nadia Gk first of all thank you for being so respectful. I agree that janet is the better dancer, maybe even the best mainstream performer dancing wise. As far as Beyoncé only doing things that were all ready done I can kinda see your point but janet has been doing things that were done as well. Beyoncé has originality to her albums and performances which janet had as well, and I think that is one of many things that make a artist great. Lemonade for instance was original and versatile, it had genres from pop to rock n roll to country and it was an hour long thing. Beyoncé has been credited for bringing visual albums back and for moving the normal album release day from tuesday to friday with her self titled album. I definitely think that Janet had more competition but there are a fair share of good artists now as well. Adele for examples absolutely destroys beyoncé (and pretty much everyone else right now) when it comes to sales. Gaga is a amazing performer so beyoncé has competition with her. I dont bow down to her either and I am definitely not saying that anyone should, but I do think the criticism is (most times) not really constructive.
