Cold fact: Janet was originally slotted to open these awards, and Madonna to close the ceremony with "Bye Bye Baby"... Madonna didn't personally approve of that arrangement. She told the producers, "If I'm not going to OPEN the show, then I'm not doing the show." What could they do??? This was 1993 - Madge was the hot ticket. They had to relent... But, look what they gave us here, people: THEY SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!! Worked fkng BRILLIANTLY in my opinion!!!

Correction: Madge was anything but the hot ticket in 1993. She was coming off "Erotica", which peaked at #2. Not one single from "Erotica" charted at #1. In fact, not one full album from Madonna hit #1 in the 1990's. Janet, on the other hand, was hitting her commercial peak. The "Janet" album hit #1. It ended up the bestselling album of her career. The single "That's The Way Love Goes" was #1 on the charts for 8 consecutive weeks. Janet's ticket was hotter than the sun. Yes, Madonna had the much bigger career overall. But at the time of this video, Janet reigned supreme.
