Janet really shows how we can take our feelings, no matter how hurt, and channel them into something positive. This was probably one of her lowest moments, channeled into one of the best album and tour combos anyone’s ever seen! She cried recording this album, she said she came up with most of this tour herself. She really knew how to get her feelings out in a healthy way, and in a way that made her one of the greatest performers, on one of thee hottest tours, selling out this arena two nights in a row, when some couldn’t even fill it.
@KnotPhound10 ай бұрын
Only few people have sold out many times in a row a show in MSG. The only examples I can think of are Elton John in 2000 and Prince in 1986 (who sold out four nights in a row). There's more than them, that's for sure.

Janet has always viewed her work as a team effort rather than an individual feat. I mean, where would she be now without the exceptional production guide of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, or the outstanding choreography of Paula Abdul? You are so right!!! Folks love getting their panties in a bunch over this comment. That girl is every bit of her brother. They are twins born 8 years apart. They're literally from the same lineage, she grew up watching him and soaked it all in.

Honestly, the GREATEST to EVER do it. I went to a Dreamforce convention for my company about 8 years ago and learned there would be a Janet Jackson performance. I thought it would be like a 30-min complimentary performance. Little did my life-long Janet fan understand, this woman would put on a 2.5-hour full concert for us. To this day... I have never experienced anything as amazing. Me and my colleagues lost our damned minds.

Had the best time at this show at 16yrs old at the Nissan Pavilion. To behold Janet in the flesh is a memory I’ll cherish for life. If you were a teen in the 90’s you understand how special it was to experience this era of artistry live. Thank you Janet for sharing your talent and vulnerability with us! Icon Living✨💯

Wow, they went all out for Escapade! It was a very theatrical performance! Everyone was in costumes, and they had great stage props for it. I love how there’s lot of dancing all throughout the concert. Her choreographer Tina Landon is one of the BEST in the music industry! The band interlude right before rhythm nation was incredible! She really gave everyone their money’s worth! That was a spectacular concert!

I actually attended her Velvet Rope Tour Concert in Las Vegas back in 98 and was scared to blink in case I missed something bc she was just THAT GOOD and had so much beautiful eye-catching activity happening all at once on stage! And hats off to Qtip and her dancers that supported her during this show. I also watched it on HBO special later, but you really HAD TO be there to truly enjoy this one. This was by far the best concert I have ever attended. She will always remain my favorite female entertainer by far! ❤

@@courtneybeasley2900 I just read online that MJ did attend, however, of course his present wasn't made known at the concert so I stand corrected on my initial statement. I'm really glad he attended at least 1 of her Velvet Rope concerts bc it was like lightening in a bottle and being in the bottle with it.😉🔥❤

I don't think she was ever as great as she was here, circa Velvet Rope. She'd just done an amazing album prior, followed it up with this album and went on tour at her peak. When this tour happened, she was just a decade into her career as we know it. It's now been TWENTY FIVE YEARS since this album and tour. Feels like yesterday. Where did the time go.....I saw this twice in the Bay Area and will never forget.

Aparently this album took years to make. She wasn't in a good place around these years. According to Jimmy and Terry Lewis. She was struggling with depression a lot.

Wowwww🥺 I’m 27 will be 28. Gosh I remember at 6 years old, (I was actually 3 when the album was released) my mom and aunt played the VHS of this tour repeatedly then me and cousins started knowing the choreography lol #goodtimes

@@milesthehousecollection4153 She admitted that this album took 6 to 6.5 months to make because of her depression to where the previous albums were completed in less than 3 months. I think she said that Damita Jo ( can't remember now) was the longest for her to make. She said that it took about a year and a half to do it

I was at Janet's Velvet Rope Tour show in Washington,D.C. and l had such a great time and enjoyed the show immensely. Janet is definitely one of the greatest performers and artists of all time. She really brings out the emotion and passion in all of her performances. She should have won an oscar for her outstanding performances in Poetic Justice and Why Did I Get Married because she is also a great actress. Janet helped pave the way for Beyonce, Rihanna, Monica, Toni Braxton, Brandy and other well known female artists of contemporary times. They all owe a her a debt gratitude for being such a trailblazer.
