Prince wrote this and it was gifted to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as a olive branch for their feud for producing other acts outside of the Time, it was meant for them to use on their solo project. Sean H, It's funny you say that. Her first two solo albums (1982 and 1984 releases) failed to really advance her music career. So in essence, the public and media wrote her off and thought she would go back to acting and fade into obscurity as far as her singing career went. But no, no, no. In 1985 she ditched her father's control and the beat producers he set her up with on her first two albums and hooked up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the rest was history.

This album that broke her out though was after she flew the coop, and began working with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

Janet rolling her neck around and cutting her eyes at Paula in the beginning of the video just cracks me up every time I watch this video. And I love the way they cut the scenes to the beat and even the dances were choreographed to the beat of the song, excellent editing.

This is a very pivotal song because it was the first single released from Janet's breakthrough Control album, so in a way, this single started Janet on the road to superstardom...then a few years later came the album "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814", and the rest is history. I refer to Janet as the "Queen of Pop", but that's me...I don't care what everyone else says.
