People don’t usually hide accents to hide accents, it’s usually just that changing the vowels makes singing easier. People often have a different singing “accent” to their real accent. But yes, janets northern Irish works beautifully for her.

Singing and speaking are actually controlled by different parts of the brain (indeed there are some people who due to things such as brain injury from accident, injury, stroke or disease are no longer able to talk but are still able to sing strange as that may sound upon first thought) and you can hear it in Janet's songs as she kind of has 2 musical voices one that's definitely musical but where her northern Irish accent shines through and the 2nd that is cleaner and more pure where there isn't much of any easily definable accent. This is quite common for singers that for example move between their regular singing voice and their falsetto voice, it's just easier to spot in Janet's case because of the beautiful character that her accent adds to her songs.

I absolutely love this ❤️ I fell like it's so prevalent as I became dependant on controlled pain medication to cope with my Mum's terminal brain cancer.
