Okay, so clearly having a different opinion here. I am in awe with Gil Chae's character. Yes, she was nuts at first, thinking she loved the man whome she's had a crush on since childhood and suddenly she has this man making her question all of that. Deep within her she loves Jang hyun. And the drama has given us enough evidence of that but Gil chae is yet to realize it. She realozes it in ep 10. She literally mourned for his death! See, in that dream in episode 1 or 2, can't remember which, when she meets him by the sea her clothes are torn, stained etc. referring to her changing/growing as a person when she finally ends up with Jang hyun or maybe she won't. The character will have an interesting arc, you see growth in her character. I love what she tells that general who asks her to marry her. And she has always been honest to Jang hyun about her feelings, she has never misled him. Why isn't anyone calling out on Jang hyun being possessive and selfish? He is literally telling her to uproot her life, her commitments to be with him. And she follows him on that but then realizes its not right. See her character is very reaposible, endearing. She would never be happy with him if she just runs off with him leaving her loved ones behind to fend for themselves. You realize that love, in the very romantic sense, is not enough sometimes, in life. It is very realistic in that sense. I feel like she loved him enough to let him go and let him be with someone she felt he deserves. The drama starts with a bleeding Jang hyun referring to the smell of spring flowers tells us that Gil Chae is his one true love. So I feel we'll see more of Gil Chae in PART 2. I love them both. And their both flawed. I'm excited to see how the story progresses.

Honestly, Jang hyuns life with the barbarians isn’t ideal, they can just turn around and arrest him which would put Gil chae and her family in danger if shes with him so even though it’s heartbreaking I like that Gil chae didn’t go with him

Jang Hyun is possessive and selfish? It is just a tragedy that both of them love each other but can't be with each other because Gil Chae chose her familial responsibility over her love. Rett left her because he waited too long to heard from Skarlett « I love you ». 😂😂😂 the writer of this book told one time: I never loved Skarlett so why she stayed alone in the end… I prefer that kdramàs story is over now. It’s not America and woman cannot remarry again after husband dead, so she’ll be never available for him. In kdrama ´s word the female lead ALWAYS loves male lead, are you agree? But it’s impossible to them to be together at least for short periods of time: he is far, she should stay with familly and her husband ( and don’t’ forgot in this time the women should dead with her husband in case of his death), so she’ll never be free. So how can she be female lead in saison 2? It’s not logical just to show her life as wife of other man or how she make money. It’s kdrama of love not biography kdrmaa about her life. If they don’t have love plot together in the futur, she’ll not be female lead. So why new girl was added… nobody wants them together : GilCahe’s team because she is good person who chose familly and he is not deserved such highly moral person and JoengHyeong’s team for the reason as I explained already: he broke his heart too many times and now it’s too late

Don't you saw how much Jang hyun suffered just to save her which she didn't know anything about. JH infact saved all of their lives. How can he still be selfish after doing all that. This drama truly gives me Scarlet Hearts of Ryo in the best and worst way possible. It’s beautifully heartbreaking! I am a bit dissatisfied with how their meeting went in ep 10…they should have spoken their hearts out instead of blaming each other, they should have been honest! I feel like they were way too cruel to each other, and that breaks me, because I know how much warmth and genuine love they feel , but this is why miscommunication trope is the worst. He should have known what all she went through, she should have known how much he has done for her and the country and both are completely oblivious to those things only seeing what is in front of their noses. I feel the writers needed to do a better job at conveying what they felt by the end to solve miss communication. I am actually very proud with Gil Chae for staying with her family, leaving them and abandoning her principles goes completely against her character, that she mentioned to the general…even if it would mean she would be with the person she loved. As for him, I am saddened that he didn’t realize her hair ribbon was missing, he should have noticed! There are many many things writers should resolve in the part 2 for their happy ending to actually be happy! But I will keep my hopes up, because I truly loved them both. The Best Rich girl Character ever in Kdrama.The girl is rich and noble lady (Yet not Noble lady material), spoiled,selfish, hardworking,family orionted. -You watch her play with Males affection and instead of hating her but you love her because its not traditional of noble lady to behave that and her failed decorum lesson and impatient. -You even love her spoiled nature when things dont go her way and her desire to try again and learn more. -During the war she bigin to grow and we the audience grow with her.The spoiled and unnoble lady became the Warrior and Nurse. -After the War is over and life ruined.She went to trade and didnt care about her Noble identity. -Then she choose a family over her own heart. I love this drama i cant wait for part two.

This drama broke my heart in to pieces in the most beautiful way that I can’t stop loving it :) I couldn’t blame GilChae nor JungHyun for what happened since they both had rights. His heart was broken and so was hers. She couldn’t abandon her family and he couldn’t stay with her when she needed. Can’t blame GilChae but I’m too sad for JungHyun bc of his sincere feelings, his teary eyes and his sad smile while leaving :)

I think there's a misconception here .The second part is not s2. They just seperated one season into 2 parts .This is not Alchemy of Souls . Gil chae will still remain the female lead and their story will unfold. Also ,at the beginning of the series where jang hyun was surrounded by soldiers ,he still thought of her . "The sound of flowers which was what he heard when they first met to show he never forgot her . I feel one of them might die There will be a twist in the plot Let's just hope for the best. Personally I'm excited to see how it unfolds

The end is happy, if we are thinking how cruel she was and how many times she broke his heart. He deserves a woman who will love him deep and sincere. At first I was thinking also it’s the sad end, but finally they never been together, theirs love story is over even before start. She’ll marry and he’ll be with this new girl. Everybody is Happy. I prefered to see them together too, but not after what she did and how deep she humiliated him. She is really toxic person

Sometimes i felt like he played with her and sometimes that he played himself. I think falling in love like that was new to him and he didn't know what to do with it. He said to her that he acted distant because he knew that once she has something she doesn't care about it anymore but it was just an excuse for me. He's a man who is always so sure of himself and knows how to act but for the first time, the situation got out of his hands. Also, multiple times he had some borderline creepy behaviors. Sometimes Jang Hyun looks like a man-child whose favourite toy is being taken from him. He keeps saying that he needs "to make her his own"?????? As for Gil Chae, we cannot blame her for her last decision. She is an engaged/ a bride with a general of her village, she went through so much, she has an ill father, she had to stay... i think her only crime was to be stubborn because yes, Jang Hyun showed his clear interest many times and she turned him down.

I just finished this show yesterday. Kudos to the team for such a beautiful story and production ❤ Personally, I wasn't at all disappointed with the way Part 1 ended. I'M SO PROUD OF GIL CHAE! Looking forward to Part 2 to see how Jang Hyun picks up the pieces of his broken heart & who would be the one helping him through the healing process. Also, how will his involvement in the royal court continue to develop.

I enjoyed this first installment of The Dearest very much, The actors, their chemistry, the plots and subplots!!!, the wardrobe (guao!!!), the sceneries, the direction, the cinematography, the fights and last but not least, the script... but, but... yes, I hate those endings, really not a Fan!!! even though I know is just the end of part 1, 25-21 all over again!!! I just hope the part 2 is better than part 1 and part 1 have been a real pleasure for many aspects. To my novice knowledge of kdramas, couple of new elements have being introduced: the female lead Gil Chae has changed to the bad and villainess! sorry but yes!!! and not only that, a new female actress is now present!!! Lee Chung Ah from Celerity... can wait to see these new line of plots!!! I hope screen writers will be able a amend all the broken hearts left behind!!!

A rare thing in k drama to portray love as it is, with its thorns and the agony of not realizing the fire that burns your heart. A female lead with a commendable arc, a male lead with a strong character development. I don’t think their story is over, far from it, we have 10 more episodes to go. This program is about their love story and how they meet and at long last they find a way to be together. Love is not always straight forward,especially in a drama like this, it would be otherwise boring and predictable. The writers are even giving us clues along the way, eg the FL tells us, eg episode 2 I think - where the FL is asking the ML do you remember when you saw me for the first time? …. These conversations are about them in the past, so they will have a future together. Otherwise, what is the point of asking, if it is not your loved one?… I was hoping they were getting together or a bit closer in episode 10 but I was not surprised as this drama has been playing with our heartstrings from early on. I think, it will be more ups and downs for both of them, before they be together - a potential wedding that hasn’t happened yet, the hunter woman, the crown prince, who is going back again to Qing,ML also working for Yong Gol-Dae in Qing again. Also he left his friend Ryang-Eum who betrayed him behind, what will be happening to him, what is his story? ( I do think he is the man that is waiting in the cell in episode 1). And will we finding out more about ML history and childhood? Let see if the hunter lady from the preview at the end of episode 10 will be sparking love in ML, but I don’t think that that will be the case, that he would love her, as his heart is with GC. Before her, he never truly loved anyone, and I don’t think he ever will. Even the scene with him and the soldiers on the beach, he is thinking about the sound of flowers - I think their ML and FL path will cross regularly, so he will not be able to forget her. And last but not least, even on insta, Min says himself, that he will return with a beautiful love story between JH and GC…. 13.10. cannot come early enough… ❤️

@@likaturn6679 I think you have a misconception about Gil Chae and Jang Hyun's chars. Jang Hyun was a "playboy" who wanted a lover but did not want to get married. She wanted to love one man and get married. While Jang Hyun was truly caring and did much for Gil Chae, he was always playful but never fully committed to the marriage.

So why they should be together? The production did everything possible to remove her from kdrama as female lead…. It’s impossible to stay as female lead and not be in love plot , are you agree? In kdrama the female lead loves always man lead. If theirs story is over, and what I see everybody wants over: one part of views a cause of her (like me) other because he is not deserved her and bad guy (like you). But nobody want them together now. And It’s impossible: he is far, her familly and especially her brother is still too young. Nobody watch again two separated stories with really love plot. So new girl is the better solution

It’s depends how you watch : if the production didn’t modify GilChae character to somebody toxic, cruel and arrogant person, we can say m, that it’s bad ending. But if we see how she was cruel with him, how many times she broke his heart and humiliated him, the end becomes HAPPY 😂 It’s over, he cannot be with such toxic woman.he deserved better , he deserved somebody who will love him and make happy. New female lead comes and safe JeongHyeon. I hope GilChae will not be female lead in saison 2

Did production really enjoy in creating such a cruel, arrogant and incapable of love female character? a heroine who is incapable of being sincere, talking about her feelings, but only breaking his heart again and again. how many times has he told her that he loves her, but she pushes him away again and again. this is the end of their story. it is impossible to forgive her: she is cruel and heartless. It’s really their end, such stupid and cruel person doesn’t deserved love. Don’t talk about her familly,if she trusts him, told about her doubles ,they could’ find the solution to keep her familly in safe. The screen writer and production decided to remove GilChae from show , other explication I don’t see. I'm glad there's a new female Lead , GilChe can't be with him. she doesn't deserve him. Without GilChae I’ll see new season, I really hate this character
