Filus is definitely an inspiration for choppers, he combines a lot of the positives of Joo and Chen. Hoping he can put up a top 4 performance here, definitely playing solid.

Chopper has no hope in male's match but is a test to see whether your skill is solid. If you watch his matches in Germany, how Jha played with Filus and how Gauzy played with Filus, you can tell the difference. Top tier players are not afraid of playing with chopper at all and that's one of the reasons they are in top tier.

@@MrCooperscoopers Jang Woojin is definetely also on par with Gauzy and the like. Filus' result in TTBL seemed a bit on the negative lately. Maybe they all know him too well there. - The better to see him here in such great form.

@@gab5012 Jiang is not even in top 10. I wouldn't call him top tier player. Plus result is everything. He lost, didn't he? You can be as fancy as you can but at the end of the day, winning is everything for a player.

He has so many different shots. Sudden backhand attacks, forehand counters, agressive pips chops, blocks at the table. You never know whats going to happen which makes it so hard to play him. Outstanding performance. Hopefully he can beat Jorgic too to make it a german final maybe :-)

ウジンはカット打ちすごくいい感じなのに、それでも苦しんでいる。ファルスはどんだけのチョッパーなんだ。すごい。 Woojin is looking really good hitting the cut, but he's still struggling. How much of a chopper is Fulse? Amazing.

Filus manages to loose against every player in the German League, but beats the best Korean Player and reaches a semi final in a world tour. Wow.

@@kristianaaberg7882 nah, they have pdf with a lot of information about Filus, every coach knows his bad and good sides so they choose choppers for training and they have choopers who copy his style or the situation, ball placement and this kind of rotation even it is worse than og filus game, YOU FEEL THIS action. If we go on the tour worldwide......You have 20 lefties, 50 right hand players, you have guys who will block the best ma long topspin but they lack in other strokes or something, so they are playing on second, third division, but choppers? You have Filus maybe 1 or 2 guys who can mimics his style but this is situation when you can't prepare for Filus because there is language barrier or even culture barrier + SHORT TIME.

It's not quite right to call Filus a defensive player. His forehand is a real weapon and he comes over his backhand occasionally too. He's really a hybrid of a chopper and a slammer. The main thing is that he usually begins the rallies with slices or pushes and waits until opportunities arise to take the offensive.

@@nicol.660 well, there are differences. Koji Matsushita defended sometimes with topspin with his forehand and went forward to hit slams sometimes but he rarely used backhand slams. He didn't do much blocking either. Maybe you could call Filus a modern defender.

@@pukulu just see the head to head about Filus VS China.Totally 17 matches,he won 4 matches,they are Zhai Chao,Fang Yinchi,Chen Xin,Lin Gaoyuan.except Lin,all those 3 players are not A team players.Also Lin lost to Filus in 2009.Lin was 15 years old that year. I am glad to see those special playing styles,but i dont like people aways boost one player when he won a match.

@@meiyang7595 yes, well the historical ranking of Ruwen Filus tells the story. He has trouble with players inside the top 20, and many of those are Chinese. There are good Chinese defenders too, such as Ma Te.

Ai ya ya, never would have guessed Jang couldn't play against chop. He was not patient and tried to loop too hard and missed. Ruwen also caught him out by going to his wide forehand. Korean footwork is great, Jang should be ready for it.

This tournament seems to be favouring the Europeans. Lot's of surprising victories over great Japanese and Korean players.

Because the dominant Chinese team did not come. Without the Chinese team, Asian players and European players would feel similar head-to-head. Because of the Chinese team, the performance of Asian players will overwhelm European players. I think the best thing about the Chinese team is that regardless of the men's and women's teams, they have a variety of special styles of players. Therefore, the main players of the Chinese team rarely lose to players with special play styles. The basic skills of the Chinese team players are really good.

Wang has a good forehand but mostly he pushes with his backhand against the backspins. It's still ok but he needs a bit more consistency.
