regular homes? these are craft shops in my point of view I love seeing love towards old craft such as clockworkers considering they are either rare or extinct in many places rather see those then shops or jobs sets that are way too oversaturated

Totally agree on the FOMO. It’s not the culture Lego should be cultivating
@coralthehippo12478 күн бұрын
Ideally, Lego would keep the GWP sets out and IN STOCK for at least a month so everyone can have the opportunity to get them. Though, I don't think Lego is ever going to do that because that just makes people not want to buy sets for them since there's no FOMO.

This is kind of a breath of fresh air for the modular series. It doesn't feel inherently tied to a specific era, looks classy, and blends well with the majority of the line. Overall, I'm excited by this one, but completely agree about the GWP program.

A gorgeous modular with a decent PPP? Who would have thought? This is right up there with the Parisian Restaurant in terms of curb appeal. A huge step up from recent sets like the jazz club and natural history museum. (The discussion of access reminds me: Jang, have you seen what Funwhole is doing with their latest modulars, where whole rooms slide out for access? Brilliant.)

This set seriously reminds me of a cafe corner & Parisian restaurant vibe! Definitely brings back a 2000s Lego feel!!! I love it.
@thebrickhiker8 күн бұрын
Judging just by the photos, and video, this one is an instant classic. Such dense details, but still space to pose minifigs. I can't wait for this one to come out! And agree 100% with the GWP program - buy set X the moment it comes out and get set Y for free "while supplies last". The last 3 were all tied to the set X - and that causes people to visit Lego's horrific and mismanaged website at some late hour in hopes to snag the set. It's sad. This GWP and the botanical gardens GWP both seem awesome and a pure miss for someone who likes both of the big sets and can't get the small GWP that goes well with them. The lifeboat and Cerebro, for me, were easy passes as I didn't like those GWP sets, but I am sure many people do/did, and had to fight with the website and buy the big set to get a chance to "win" the GWP. It should not be like that, and TLG should know better and do better.

This modular is beautiful! I love the tudor style Definitely one of my new favorites The hat store and clock shop are amazing, the pub is great Nobody is talking about the 'balcony' that doesn't have a way to access it With a hat store I was hoping for new hat molds, but it doesn’t seem like there will be any. I wish it wasn’t a corner building, we need a 32×32 one building modular that fills most of the baseplate. Hopefully next year

This is peak Lego Modular Building design. It's a new style, it's got a unique colour palette, It looks good by itself and it is absolutely full of cool parts usage. Honestly, I think this would look really good next to the Green Grocer and Café Corner (though it would be obvious how much more detail it has)

For the Endurance, I either had to try to get in the queue at midnight Friday to try and get a lifeboat, or line up at the Lego store in the mall right when they opened on Black Friday….. neither prospect was very enticing to me, so I just decided to forgo the lifeboat and get the set later when it’s convenient

Thanks for speaking out against the FOMO GWP's. That sort of thing really saps the fun out of a hobby that should be relaxing and joyful. And it's neither relaxing nor joyful to feel like you're being manipulated so someone can get your money.
@crmodela8 күн бұрын
Totally agree with Jang's opinion about the direction Lego has gone with gifts with purchase. Also, the thresholds to get them have kept rising to ridiculous levels. Nowadays I'm rarely enticed to buy something just to get the GWP, instead I'm now relying on my local Lego Exhibition (Bricks in the Six held now anually in Toronto) where I've been able to buy some at decent prices.

This might become my first modular. I find it really charming
@TheStugbit8 күн бұрын
This new modular is very nice, but I really wish Lego could bring other stuff to their modular series that goes beyond what they usually release. I mean, we get cafes and restaurants all the time. I wish they could bring some supermarkets, some places selling fruits and vegetables, things like that. Perhaps even a shopping mall or something. Their modular series also misses other kind of things like squares, plazas, parks and so forth. All those things complement well a city, they're part of city life. Not to mention they also don't have a road system that fits their buildings theme. They have their new roads for regular city stuff, but so far, for old base modulars they're still lacking it. The regular city roads don't actually fit the modular bases unless you modify it. As far as I understand, those constructions are based on New England America, cities like NY and Boston in the 50s, 60s perhaps, isn’t it? Most like it would be necessary a stone cobble street sort of thing to match the context.
@WallyWaffleMan8 күн бұрын
Wow, they absolutely nailed this! It's gorgeous. I have just started looking at Funwhole and actually received the Book Cafe, and it looks awesome, but if I get another modular, it may have to be this thing! I have always thought modulars were awesome, but the aesthetics of this one are really exceptional.
@UnisaurDinocornBricks8 күн бұрын
It looks an awesome set, I don't really have any modulars but I feel like this might have to be a must purchase! Being British I love the fact that it is not another North American themed building. The attention to detail is so good. The printed piece in the flat with the sunflower lanyard is so important to people with hidden disabilities. My daughter has autism and relies on her lanyand when out of the house!

I agree, sometimes those GWPs can be pretty predatory. I know they got me good with the D&D set (but I do in fact use the mimic chest for its intended purpose of holding my dice set when playing so I'm happy I got it). Luckily this one I think is relatively skippable (unlike what happened for fans of the Endurance), so I think I'll wait until I can find it at a discount or if there's a GWP at some point I'm more interested in.

You can fairly easily add alleyways if you like. Just swap the 1/2 baseplate for a full one and shift the main design to the middle of them, giving you space on both sides. Add in a handful of grey tiles, park benches, a tree or two, and voila! (Or just build the alleys separately on two small strips.)
