It's deeply telling that Junior mistakes Janice for Livia. Even in his demented state of mind, Junior has _just_ enough mental clarity to recognize that Janice is trying to manipulate him. I find it interesting that he unintentionally observes that Janice has slowly turned into a Livia-esque figure by that point in the show. The way she acts in this scene (and throughout the entire show) shows that she really hasn't fallen far from the tree, so to say. By the end of the series, Janice has effectively taken Livia's place as a cloying, emotionally abusive matriarch.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that Janice is a plotter in getting her wants in the most conniving ways. She personally loathes her uncle, to a point she once suggested Tony in putting him in a home so the family can do away with him. She has the living gall of visiting Junior, in frail health situating in a mental facility, purposely to plead for money now that Bobby is gone. Whenever I hate a character in a show or movie, I just credit actor/actress playing the part. Great job by Aida Turturro and great writing. I really hated Janice
@Komnen0s4 жыл бұрын
Aida Turturro is one of the more underrated actresses on the show. She's able to perfectly (and subtly) bring across how manipulative and self-serving Janice is without ever overdoing it. I always find it frustrating when people rag on actors/actresses who play characters that are difficult to like, so I would hope that most fans of the show aren't doing that with her or Edie Falco. I know Anna Gunn got a lot of hatred from fans of _Breaking Bad_ because the character she played was kind of cold and distant (although Skyler ended up making lots of correct observations that Walt ignored), so it's unfortunate that this is such a common trend with popular shows and movies.

Or the time he sped off without Bobby when the feds were arresting people at the funeral? Or the time he kept curving that old lady who tried to be his friend because he didn't want to be old with her? Or the time he dumped his girlfriend of 15 years because she let slip that he licks, kisses and sucks on her genitals? Or the time he tried to kill his nephew because he wanted the title of Boss, then accepted a deal where he was boss in-name only? "The man is driven in total by his insecurities". People like this can't love. All other feelings are pushed-out, and overwritten by their insecurities.

Does anyone know what junior says in Italian?
@Nicolaa882 жыл бұрын
I believe he literally saiys "a tripp' di zieto" or "zieta" that means "your uncle's/aunt's belly". It is an archaic idiom, used in Campania (where the Soprano family ancestors lived) to react to somebody's prank. Quite funny how it sounded familiar to me as my relatives are from that Italian region too and they used to spell it occasionally :)

It’s almost impossible when the show was full of gangsters, murderers and crooks that Janice by far was this biggest scumbag of them all. What great writing!!! One of the best shows ever

They were both probably dead by the end of 2008.

@@tayzawolf6145 why would paulie die that early? never, unless his cancer came back or he had some sort of freak accident. nobody is going to whack him, hes too stupid and useless and they know it, which is why he lived as long as he did, through all the wars.

Is this a deleted scene? I though the only time we see Uncle June after his fight is with Tony in the last episode.

Good god this show was funny. "Left my stove on on purpose. I put it out with a wet dish rag." Introducing another thing Junior knew Janice did as the little shit that she was, and then seeing on Janice's face that it was true.
@wallacerickmanii11 ай бұрын
Just for clarity sake, he doesn’t say “I put it out…” He says “She left my stove on, on purpose. Put the flame out with a wet dish rag. I caught her.” He had a gas stove. Janice snuffed out the pilot light with a wet rag. So now he has a gas leak. Essentially, she tried to murder him.

What does uncle June say in Italian ??
@danielseibel48175 жыл бұрын
trippa di zia. It means "your aunt's tripe.' It's a Neapolitano slang thing for when someone says something ridiculous. Kind of like in America when someone says something and you respond "my ass."
