Great techniques. Simple and effective that doesn’t require a lot knowledge and are quick to learn. I see comments from fellow martial artists on how these don’t work and should instead take martial arts classes instead. As a martial artist with my own school I would say this couldn’t be any more wrong. These techniques have a solid foundation and work. Does going a martial arts school and putting in a lot of training put you in a better spot than the basic self defense videos? Absolutely. Should you not learn any self defense until you do? Absolutely not First of all not everyone has the resources to attend a martial arts school and train. Sometimes there isn’t a school nearby, it’s too expensive, they work late hours when the schools are open, or they are under 18 and their parents won’t take them. I think many forget that women in abusive relationships can’t just go out and join a martial arts school and train to protect themselves. In my 20’s I would go with women in abusive relationships as protection to get their stuff out of their houses/apartments and it would get nasty sometimes. Incredibly controlling and aggressive partners. If the partner were to find out she was going to a martial arts school to train it would have been disastrous. Learning these techniques are a great way to learn to defend yourself if you can’t go to a school or until you can get to the point where you are good enough to defend yourself. It’s definitely better than not learning how to defend yourself at all. Training at a school takes time, it’s not going to happen overnight or in week or even in a month. You need something until you reach that point. It’s also videos like this that inspire other women get into martial arts and seek out training to protect themselves because they can see that it can be done. Absolutely go to a martial arts school when/if you can but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn what you can now to help you. Awesome video!! Keep them coming.

I agree with what you said. You can learn a lot from DVD'S or some youtube videos. You don't really need to go to a martial arts class. But if you can, then go. But it should be based on true self-defense, not sport. When I went to martial arts schools and I've been studying for 35 years now, most of what I learned was useless. I don't remember most of it. All you really need is the simple gross motor moves in real situations. Kelly McCann said it best "...what you learn in class that day you should be able to do in the evening" or something to that effect. Sgt Jim Wagner also says, " ...if you can't learn it in 5 minutes, get rid of it." Simplicity is the key. So what she's teaching here, I think is valid. But remember, all these techniques will be useless unless you develop that fighting spirit. In other words, you need that " ...stuff him, why should I be a victim," attitude.

Know what we don’t need more of? Made up names and a self defense Martial art plagiarized from other martial arts and passed off as something special. Looks nice with a cooperative buff guy trying one grab or hold and then her immediately getting away. It just doesn’t work like that in real life. How about teaching something valuable which does not require the instructor to plagiarize other martial arts? How about teaching like I do to keep your distance and being aware of your environment? Every one of these silly scenarios could have been avoided by someone not letting a stranger getting close to them in the first place. Granted two were back attacks but in all seriousness those are things that can happen on the streets where you should for the most part control your space.

I have been into several fights (one was even about life and death). Please notice: Don't do any complicated movements. This video depicts a fight quite easy, but your enemy doesn't wait until you finished your move! He is prepared, you are not! In most cases, a fight can be end for your good by a kick in the nuts, by a fast punsch in the face or by a bite. When your life is in danger, play as dirty as you can. But without training, you won't be prepared. And yes, unfortunately, even many people who are good at martial arts die in street fights, because street fights are different!

also if you grabbed the opponent's ear and swung it hard enough, it'll rip and bleed, causing the opponent a shock (i learned this when i'm in a kung fu class) and because the ear contains many blood vessels, the opponent will lose much blood, making it an advantage for you to run. and also you gotta aim for the eyes, but watch out if they aim for yours, try not to blink (very hard if you aren't trained) because the opponent could take this as an advantage. (ik this is hard to do, and that made kung fu pretty hard to learn because some of the techniques fight our natural instinct, such as when an opponent kicks you from the side, don't move backwards, you have to move forwards to the thigh area, because it'll not make you fall and stuff, and also being an advantage to attack the nuts (if it's a man) or other vital areas.

As a martial artist myself, I'll give my 2 cents on this topic: yeah these moves seem cool but when it comes the hour when you gotta defend yourself, none of these are going to work if you don't practice it enough with a partner in realistic ways. If you're a woman and want to learn how to defend yourself, first you gotta understand that defending yourself against a man is going to be more difficult because men tend to be psychically stronger than you ladies, and moves like pulling, pushing or grabbing them are going to be harder to perform. The best way you can learn self defense is joining real martial art classes, it can be any style you prefer but my recommendations are: boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, brazilian jiu jitsu, judo, taekwondo and karate. With a proper training based on technique, physical power and sparring, your chances to win a fight are going to increase exponentially.

Winner of a video, I've been looking for "self defense moves when attacked from behind" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Eonuke Stupendous Equalizer - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to self defence techniques to keep your family safe without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.

The most important thing is TRAINING. These moves need to become second nature for you. Reflexes. Muscle memory. You will not have time to think about it. If you don't have a partner practice punches and kicks. Every girl should get martial arts training if you ask me. I did Wushu on and off for 12 years and I often rolled my eyes practicing a move a million times. You know as an impatient kid^^ Today I'm glad I could defend myself if I had to but also be VERY aware of your surroundings. If nobody gets near you you don't have to do anything which is even better. Great video. Thank you for your work🙏🏻

I'm another 14 year old girl currently watching these because the "what if" thought keeps popping in my head. The other night at 2 am when I was about to sleep, I heard a man whispering so close to me. It's like my soul left my body and I was frozen because of fear. I waited for it to stop but it didn't, I then gathered all my courage to remove my eye mask. I sat up too, no one was there. I looked around and checked my windows. A wave of relief washed over me and I broke down, I was shaking as I closed my blinds, curtains, and locked my windows. It made me think, what if there actually was someone in my room? How would I act? How SHOULD i act? Which is why i'm here 🙂

I’m not looking to go toe to toe with a male attacker. Even without skill a man has physical ability that can and will overpower a woman. The goal is to create an exit for escape! Don’t fool yourselves! Educate, strengthen, train and prepare yourselves for an attack that will Hopefully never come!🙌🏽 On point mama!!!🥰👍💋

Don’t choose to believe it will happen or may become LOA, but do learn self defence as a necessary skill. It is better to train a sense of awareness, which most girls who get in these situations, have put themselves in potential situations like those, alway be aware of your surroundings and environment. It is a beneficial mindset training too. Keeps one calm and prepared no matter what situation. Train for surprises of any kind and still remain in control and calm; don’t freak out like they do in movies; And train to know solutions. Personally judo helped me lessen injury during a motorcycle mishap. Judo grabbing also helped me strengthen my fingers lol, helped me put pressure and control if men was testing me for who is in control of a situation. My fingers are powerful compared to the average girl lol. You also feel internally/emotionally stronger and more calm when you feel you have extra skills.
