It doesn’t matter if you’re singing with your real or fake voice because most of the time your “fake voice” suits a certain part of the song more and you’ll find yourself singing the songs with both your real voice and “fake voice” and sticking to singing with only your real voice limits the number of songs you can potentially sing by A LOT.

First, I love your accent! You sound like you’re from the Islands. I wish I could have shown this video to my mother. I was born totally blind in 78. They said I was singing before I talked. So when I started singing opera at seven, my mother thought I was showing off. She would tell me not to do that, because that’s not mmy real voice. So when I was eleven and twelve, I heard soul music for the first time. My dad was a preacher, and I wasn’t to have any music but Christian. They would hear me listening to gospel music, and they would say mean things like, “Why are you playing that black music? What’s wrong with you?” Naturally, I knew they were crazy by that time. So if it didn’t fit with their style of DChristian music, you would go to hell? Okay. Probably, my favorite vocalist is Donny Hathaway, but I love all different styles now. All of that to say, I loved, loved, loved your video about singing, and I hope it helps some of the younger generation not to be so scared. Keep up the great work, and you are beautiful. I don’t need to see you to know that.

This was sooo helpful! It was always so much easier for me to use my head voice because I've been working on that for years, wherever I never knew how to train my chest ("real") voice. When I first started singing & playing guitar at, what were at that time called hootenannys or coffeehouses, I was given the advice that my speaking voice & my singing voice should be different. I had a slightly high speaking voice. Making it higher, I sounded like a cartoon character; making it lower was even worse. So, I got an idea that not only worked, but has gotten me compliments on my singing. I changed my speaking voice.

My Dad trained, traveled and sang with his College Choir his four years, 1969-1972. He was taught (and trained us) that the upper range is called "Falsetto". So we say, I sing the verse in my normal, (real or regular voice {for us that was lead, alto, tenor, etc...}) voice then changing to falsetto on this (_) note to that (_) one then I drop back down to my normal register. [Or...I will hit falsetto on that note and hold it for (x) beats while you all do your parts then I will drop down and join you here.]This might help you? If you have one term to call it every time it would save you tons of re explaining and interchanging of terms, therefore making your message more clear and understandable.Audrey

I think when singing. I tend to use my head voice a lot, and it hurts my throat and neck. So I thought I’m doing something wrong.

I was struggling with my vioce and I often practice hours even after ending zoom classes on vioce training and I am better but when I started practicing I wanted to be so good that I practiced alot, I was straining my voice and most often the next day is either no one can hear when I speak because my voice becomes so low or it's breaking I became frustrated and never thought I could continue practicing to be better. My mom introduced me to this voice highlighting tea that's very helpful and I started using it, I didn't experience voice breaking or any of such no more. Check me description to get yours if you been through this.
