Janja Garnbret climbs her first Font 8C/V15 - Twice!

Janja Garnbret has become the seventh woman to climb 8C, with her ascent of Bügeleisen Sit (f8C/V15), in Maltatal, Austria.
The boulder, first climbed by Nalle Hukkataival in 2014, has seen a total of just six ascents, with Janja's being the only female ascent.

It seems Janja is depleting the global supply of superlatives. One of the most impressive things is that she can apparently cope with the enormous pressure of our collective expectations. I can’t wait to see what’s next for her.

Does anyone else feel like she made this look so easy, she should try Burden? I did notice quite a bit of adjustment here, but she never looked in jeopardy of popping off. I don't know that Burden would allow for much micro-adjustments, but the fact that she did this after a 30 minute warmup, makes it seem very feasible she could pull off Burden.

yea my impression has always been that this teetered at a pretty high end of the v15 level, i say from my couch,lol, but yea. for her to make short work of it, seems to suggest(unsurprisingly) great outdoor promise.

My opinion exactly. Possibly her ascent of Bügeleisen Sitzstart was the fastest 8c ascent so far. With a little more than half an hour, 8c+ should be possible, if not more. Let's watch and be amazed.

Brooke repeated Box Therapy, but offered a downgrade from 8C+ to 8C. As a result, the first female ascent of an 8C+ is still up for grabs. There'a fair few folk who'd be vying for it, although Janja's form suggests she'd be a strong contender.

It is time for women to produce a boulder that no man will ever do. Using the main pelvis physiological difference between men and women plus eventually smaller fingers it is certainly possible. Yet what is needed it for the women to choose their boulder not to simply retry those open by men.
