@@Matt_10203 not at all true. Anyone with any amount of brain power understands what happened, and that the game is STILL IN ALPHA! For those not aware of what's going on, the original kickstarter was so Chris Roberts could have some money to go to a big publisher like EA and say "see, look, there are people interested in this kind of a game so lets work together and make it" The only problem was that AAAALOT of people wanted a space sim type game, so he continued the funding and raised enough money that he no longer needed team up with some big soulless corporation, he could do it all himself. So they had stretch goals up to like $65M, but then they smashed that so the production went up and up, and this is where the problem lies for most people. Those original couple years were like, ok here's what we want to make..... annnnnd lots more funding Ok in light of the new amount of funding, we're going to do thi...... annnnnd lots more funding So those first couple of years, everything kept changing because people kept funding more and more and more until they went from a nice indie game into a full blown cinematic AAA game with big name actors and the idea for 2 games, one split into 3 parts, and the other a giant space MMO. And now you get all of these brainlets talking about "sunk cost fallacies" while they completely skip past the insane progress that the team at CIG have made. FYI, anytime someone complains the answer is super simple, they are still in early alpha. STILL IN ALPHA!!!!!!!!!!! What you saw in the video with Byf, is alpha footage. They are only now starting to piece huge systems into the PU and working on the bugs for them. In the next content patch which is 3.10 they are going to be putting in dynamic drag effects onto the various ships so that they fly differently in an atmosphere than they do while in space. And those drag effects change based on the shape your ship is in, so if you lose a wing, it will change how your ship flies, both in atmo and in space.

I don’t typically have any issues running it. There are definitely bugs and glitches but most have work arounds. The main thing is a SSD. Currently can mine, bounty hunt, run cargo legal and illegal, PI work etc. FPS missions are really buggy though.

I first heard about Star Citizen about 2 years ago. From what I have heard - it's a fund-raiser project that's more ambitious than most games by companies like EA. And I'm going to need an equally-ambitious PC to run it, judging by this footage. Thanks to Byf, Barb, Chromar and Shingly for reminding me about this game and making me want to play it even more than I already did (and thanks to Martin for having the patience to edit the video so the rest of us didn't have to sit through what was probably an hour of loading screens)

performance is mainly down to the servers and this will improve when they bring in server meshing. if you load into the game on a fresh server, you get around 60fps

Hey! I'm one of the developers for the game (Cinematics Designer for the single player content, so my knowledge on the SC side is a little more limited). It has a lot of performance issues right now but my biggest suggestion would be to try it with an SSD! Night and day difference for load times. The game doesn't actually load the entire universe all at once or anything, but rather streams in and out locations and ships as needed, so an SSD makes the process a lot less hitchy. I follow you for your Destiny content but man it's awesome to see you branching out to try SC, real cool surprise. If you have any general questions (again, cinematics doesn't tie into the MMO much) I'd be happy to answer!

Next year, hopefully, Squadron 42 will be released, so you can start then ;) I would suggest waiting for a sale to come up and buying one of the starting ship packages. Everyone will tell you to go for the Mustang starter, but I saw the Aurora is better because it lets you do package missions IF, and only IF you want a bit better of a starter ship once you log into the verse, the Avenger Titan is a fantastic ship, but you seriously only need one of the starter packages to play.

The cool thing is. Warp drive inst a loading screen either. You are actually traveling that distance in real time. So much like real life, (if there were warp drive) it would take a bit of time to get to your destinations.

Got some "Nvidia Control Panel" settings for anyone who really wants to increase their frames and make the gameplay smooth: Anisotropic filtering: Application-controlled Antialiasing- Gamma correction: global settings Antialiasing- mode: application-controlled Antialiasing - Transparency: Multisample (turning this off gave me a couple more frames not sure why) Multi-frame Sampled AA: On Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance Shader Cache: on Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample options: on Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Clamp (will get rid of most stutters) Texture filtering - quality: High performance Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: on Threaded optimization: On Tripple buffering: off Vertical sync: off Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames: 4 (Goona have a bit of latency, but for sc it's negligible) You may have additional options like freesync/gsync, just set those to on or performance if you have them

Star citizen is a great game. Well it’s not really a game yet it’s right now and alpha. It’s a great proof of concept. But I have put a lot of hours into playing it and just screwing around. It can be pretty Janky but it is one of the best games I’ve really messed with in a long time.

General Clanka If you want a complete space flight Sim then elite dangerous is an actual game. Star Citizen has a lot more content and possibilities but it is not stable and is pretty buggy right now. If you get it I would recommend installing it to a solid-state drive and having at least 16 gigs of RAM.

Looks like 3.8 given the lack of the Player Status System and updated first person UI so this footage is from at most April which could explain the server instability and general desync from that overall patch. Judging by the load times I'm curious if you have it installed on an SSD Byf, if not I recommend having SC installed on one as it is practically required to help with the initial load times and smoothing out the overall experience. Hoping to see more SC shenanigans.

Byf if you don't have it on an SSD you'll experience some more jitters than normal. The game streams content from your drive rather than loading everything at once. SSD + RAM seem to be the biggest factors currently in the alpha.
