This is the only video that explained/showcased florescence in sunlight - the argument is it doesn't matter unless you go to the club with UV ray lighting, but of course the sun has UV rays too! lol

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like the black splinters you can see in the more reflective diamonds. This is why I ended up going with an old European cut diamond for my engagement ring!

Does light passing through the stone vs. light reflecting off the cuts give better visual effect? Or does the reflection give better visual effect?
@louiep32374 жыл бұрын
Reflection. Any light passed thru the diamond isn’t reflected back to your eye.
@MissOhio19803 жыл бұрын
And the skin that's seen thru the facet makes it darker as opposed to reflecting the light back. Just like mirrors reflect light brighter than a dark window.

How I wish I would have seen this video before getting my diamond. I have a IF, F color and no fluorescence diamond and I just couldn't understand why it looks so "lifeless" compared to my sister's diamond with similar specs. Now I know it's bc of the cutting 😭

So it is light leakages caused by poor cuts that causes a diamond to look dark? The other factors are inclusions including cloud inclusions. Thank you for such great insights. Best video ever on diamonds I have been able to find in months! 🙏
@jeankeats32002 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Also, I found out a long time ago about florescence in a diamond. GIA does grade on this. Mine has no florescence in it. It's REALLY sparkly. I got D color but got good cut. Yes, cut is VERY important as light can leak out of the bottom of the diamond. It's ALL about light that goes in, bounces on all the facets and comes out to the eye! I can't believe people buy stones on line. I would not do that.

@Aeronauticalwizard4 жыл бұрын
Emerald cuts are often cheaper and can look bigger per carat :) but because of how they're cut you will want to make sure there are no noticeable inclusions, however. Did she try some on though? I thought I wanted emerald cut but I felt meh when I put it on. I went with princess in the end (square). Good luck!
@iamdmc4 жыл бұрын
@@Aeronauticalwizard thanks for the tip! No she hasn't tried any on. She's just seen photos and thinks they look smart. I think I'll propose with a decoy ring as I'm not sure she'll truly like the emerald cut. Every one I've seen looks a bit meh and lots of inclusions or milky diamonds out there.
@Aeronauticalwizard4 жыл бұрын
@@iamdmc definitely a good idea! I agree, I think they look amazing! But only if they're very large and clear and, to be honest, on very long fingers! You sound sensible, I'm sure she'll say yes 😊🤞

why is the GIA report number wiped out in both diamonds? I want to see the table dimensions and other metrics for each. All you need is the measurements of the report and reference against ideal measurements. was it purposely chosen a very deep cut stone for comparison? I'm sure triple excellent ideal cut would have great light performance either way. Unless you put something side by and look closely for comparison it'll still be a gilttery rock. if you want to max bling, moissanite would do that but not everyone likes the showy shine.

Diamond is not standard like gold in price n other aspects.. better buy moissanite if u want sparkle n bling
@Indusxstan3 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY! Diamonds have little to no resale value (a fact you learn when you try to sell it), have less sparkle than Moissonite anyway, and have tons of issues connected with variations in cuts, colour, and cloud inclusions! A dreadful deal for the common man (unless you are a celebrity in which case they bring you fame and envy, not everyone’s cup of tea). Missonite is far better and a far better choice because they are flawless in every way (if you are careful to choose Forever One grade) and also eco-friendly (no mining and destruction of the environment!).
@xxsam0917xx3 жыл бұрын
@@Indusxstan Lol diamonds are diamonds. Moissanites are Moissanites. Moissanites are diamond alternative. Not all diamonds are made that way. People try to justify that moiss have better fire and clearer but really, it's because it's a lot cheaper. Ethically speaking, it's out of the question because there are diamonds like 'lab' diamonds that are ethically grown.
