You talked about the plates, but I'm still not understanding why you have to chang them. What does HP mean, what is the advantage of that plate. I understand the single hole plate, but why cant you use one of the other plates.

If you check your manual, you'll see information about the various needle plates and their purposes.You can only use the HP needle plate with the HP foot - they are a paired set.
