Hi I have the machine and love it so far. I did have the 15000 and did a lot edge to edge quilting on it. I would like to see how to do the edge to edge quilting on the M17. Than you. I enjoyed your video.

I think you guys are thinking of this item the wrong way. This is three quality machines in one. If you were to get an embroidery machine, a high end sewing machine and a long arm quilting machine you would be paying more. What about the amount of space you’re saving as compared to three machines? If you read through their brochure you would see all of the capabilities it has. she really just skims through the explanation.

Thanks for this video. I have the 12,000 and the 15,000. I also do a lot of garment sewing. The lack of a free arm on this machine and the size and weight of it have me hesitant. I will turn 77 tomorrow. I just don’t know about getting this machine. What do you think?

Lynn, Thanks for watching. I am mostly a garment seamstress as well. I rarely use a free arm. What I love about the new machine is the ability to handle ANY type of fabric from the sheerest to layers of heavy denim. The new feeding system and power are awesome. Since you have both a 12000 and 15000, you could trade one and keep one to use the free arm or get a small lightweight machine like the 3160 for free arm sewing. The CM17 is huge and it is heavy. My husband has delivered and set up the new machine for some of our customers. You might want to see if your dealer can offer such a service or get someone to help. Once it is set up, you won't be moving it. Good luck with your decision. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I agree about the lack of freearm and with all the bells 'n whistles on this machine, it would have been a great inclusion. Way back when I learned to sew, freearms weren't available and we didn't miss what we didn't know...but it's really nice to have one even if it's only for handbags etc which is when I use it most of all. Physical size is problem #1 for those of us who don't have unlimited space, but fortunately we have Ann's videos to watch. ;-)

You will import the vector file into Artistic Digitizer jr. that comes with the CM17 or full version if you update. You need to digitize artwork, then send to the machine.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "curly edge" of a cotton fabric. I always start with a clean cut edge on a woven fabric.

Yes, it is great because the machine recognizes the hoop so you can move the design anywhere in your hoop and position with the laser.

This is not a commercial machine but it has a very powerful motor. It is a home sewing, quilting and embroidery machine. To compare to a commercial embroidery machine you would want to check out the Brother PR1055X or the 680W.
