I have the 6234XL. After getting the hang of it, threading is a breeze. No need for an air threader. That switch that brings the looper out is the best. I have to say though at the beginning I had lots of problems with thread breaking until I watched a video how to thread and the guy threaded the upper looper first so I tried that and it works every time. So niw I have no fear. I could thread it everyday! I have also just read about overlockers in Tilley and the buttons, stretch book. She also says to thread the upper first. I love your way of sewing French seems. That's brilliant. I do a lot of them so I will do that next time. Much quicker and no threads peeping through. Thanks, I'm going to look at other videos.

I have just bought the 9300DX, I've never used an overlocker, been sewing for over 70 yrs hand, treadles, and electric sewing machines. I've always wanted an over locker, these videos are going to be a life saver. Just plugging it in this morning took courage!! I have now managed an edge !!! Well pleased . The chain stitch is the thing I need to remember at the end of my piece of work, not pull it like you do on a standard Machine, mine is also a Janome. All help gratefully received. Sue

Thank you I will, making wheat bags to help those of us elderly to keep warm having lost the winter fuel benefit. This is going to speed up the process amazingly, actual bag to make plus washable covers. Shop bought ones you can rarely wash. So now I've got the overlocker I won't need to do double turn overs or try and trim the edges, it will do all that in one go!! Magic Thank you

Just got back from holiday so a bit late watching this episode . Thank you once again for such an interesting video de-mystifying the intricacies of threading overlockers and their uses. I am really looking forward to seeing more practical examples of how you use these in your sewing projects.

Whenever I take out a needle I make sure to tighten the screw back up. Because the vibration from the machine can loosen it and it can disappear forever. I also leave the needle threaded until it’s out, again in case I drop it xxx

I don’t seem to have the patience I once had ,when i was much younger. I am pushing 85, in good health, and have always enjoyed sewing of all kinds. Got into quilting about15 years ago.

Try not to force it. I try to do smaller projects now as I sometimes get bored of the bigger ones and then it's another UFO! With quilts ,I now do sampler style or row by row and use quilt as you go and that helps. Xx

It honestly isn't as scary as you may think.Just take some time to sit and go through some different fabric scraps and look at the threading and before you know it this machine will be your best friend!! Xx

Hi Julia. You asked for more questions and suggestions …….Please could you add more on different types of overlocker threads to the next tutorial. I have a new air thread Janome machine but am only just getting started on garment sewing and learning about overlocker and decorative threads.

Keep your speed lower and it won't be able to! You also dontvhave to use everything ...just what you need, when you need it...it's a servant there to do your bidding....well not the housework I'm afraid🤣

I hope you are having success with your overlocker. I have been using them for about 35 years. They can be the best thing, but also can be so very aggravating! I have a 644d, and I rather hate it! If I ever have to re-thread it it ends up being an hours long process, I cannot seem to get the under and over loopers situated properly. And I have given up on trying to do a rolled hem on it, it simply will not do it nicely. That is the bad news. The good news is I have used several other models through the years that are easier to thread and move between the different stitches. I do encourage you to explore the capabilities because there are lost of different things you can do which will give you more professional results. And for sewing knits they are far more satisfactory than a regular sewing machine. Good luck!

Hi I am new to using my overlocker and to your channel. Watching your video was really helpful to me but I do have a question. I know when you are threading you work from right to left so if you decide to change the color thread in the upper looper for example do you then have to unthread the right then left needle and then rethread those again after threading the upper looper.

Hiya, as I saidvit is important that the threads lay in the correct order and often if you are moving the wheel to get ro the threading parts,if the needles are still threaded they may get tangled up so ...short answer yes but I only take them out of the needle not out of all the tension discs etc.Hope that makes sense! Xx

Thank you for doing this video. It’s been really helpful. I have anew Janome 9300DX overlocker. On my sewing machine I have to use a ballpoint needle for stretch fabrics. Is there any needle equivalent for an overlocker or is it just the exact same needle every time… apart from size? Thanks again Maria❤️ I’ll be watching this channel very often

The recommended needles HAX 1SP are Super Stretch ballpoint needles. They come in a 11 and 14 . These are the ones you should use all the time. Glad the video helps xx
