"I will not perform until I know exactly what I am doing". How many people really appreciate and assumes this sense of artistic responsibility? This is musicianship.

This is a short, but COMPLETE course in musicality. He is completely in command of the thoughts and means of making music as an artist. I had a student who studied with him decades ago and LOVED the man. The student is now, I believe, the principle cellist with an orchestra in South America.

Mr. Starker is fascinating but also an intimidating man to interview (I have done so myself on radio). I think she does well. Don't knock her until you have tried interviewing him yourself!

Amazing viewpoint on professionality. It's true for anything that one could possibly do with a purpose.

The first two questions she asks are terrible questions and don't make any sense. If you pay attention, Starker doesn't even answer her, but rather just talks on topic.

What an intelligent man. Wise words spoken. And what a terrible interviewer she is!
