Wow, what an intense painting of the Snowy Owl. You gave such valuable information on edges and color theory. I never knew about glazing techniques and reminder to work with the largest brush possible when painting alla prima was helpful. Just cleaning edges and working on horizonal lines can make such a difference in your subject! Remaining light hearted and don't get overwhelmed if you make mistakes as they can be corrected is emotional support so we don't get discouraged. You put your all into teaching and want each student to succeed in their own time. What a beautiful painting and you just can't stop looking at the owl's wing! I never knew of the snowy owl before seeing yours! New & interesting to every viewers eye I am sure.

I so enjoyed watching all 3 videos David. The time went by very quickly in trying to take in as much as I could. I appreciate the time you take to teach us the details that make all the difference in the painting. What a masterpiece in the making!! I'm gonna give this a try. Thank you for always wanting the best for your students.

Oh my goodness, David, he's flying into the room! I enjoyed Part 3 thoroughly. Your lesson is so rich with instruction that I took notes as I was watching. I loved it all. And those "tiny additions of color to push him forward" work very, very, very well. The painting is magnificent! Near the end, I had a hard time distinguishing the painting from the photo. You're such a gem. Thank you for your generosity in sharing with us. All the best to you and yours. JV

Thank you JV. He is very fun! It really helps to use that white paper and focus on the tones. That is what really makes it look like the photo. :)

@@JansenArtEducation You're quite welcome, David. Hmmm. Yes. I remember being impressed with how "right on the money" you got those colors when you demonstrated using the white paper. Thank you for emphasizing that method for me here. I'm adding it to my two pages of notes right now! JV

Just an all painting question, what can you do to use most of your painting time on painting; instead of color mixing; any suggestions for more quickly mixing your colors. Any charts with the more mixing ideas?

hello I am curious what kind of acrylic paint you painted the owl with,, I mean what thickness of paint, just found out that there are different thicknesses,,,and did you also use mediums,,,I always paint with oil paint, but want to switch to acrylic,,, but then I also want good stuff right away. thank you in advance. owl is beautiful
@JansenArtEducation

I use Heritage Acrylics. Links are in the video description. You can slow them down to several hours drying time with mediums. Some medium actually dry slower than many oils. I don't use long drying techniques though. This one is paint mostly acrylic. Fast drying.
