January 12, 2025 - 1 Corinthians 12:1-3, "The True Sign of the Spirit of God"

Paul moves from the Lord's Supper to talking about Spiritual Gifts. The interesting fact is that Paul sees that the Corinthians may be misinformed.
Spiritual gifts were a hot topic for the Corinthians and not much has changed in our society. Paul wants the Corinthians to understand that just as they were led away by mute idols so they can be led away by an improper understanding of spiritual gifts.
So, Paul wants to make a distinguishing mark on how someone is led by the Spirit. It is super simple as Paul states no speaking in the Spirit will say, "Jesus is accursed" and without the Holy Spirit no one will say, "Jesus is Lord". The way people talk about the Lord is vitally important to us understanding if they truly have the Holy Spirit.
So many people today claim to have the Holy Spirit, but few truly understand what this means. May this beginning lesson help us in understanding what Paul teaches o the Holy Spirit. May the Lord bless His hearers.
