Toughbuilt flyer/magazine paper that comes in their products shows the 4 wheel cart/dollie has locking wheels on it. Looks nice! I love all of my toughbuilt stuff. Next for me is the XL cooler!

I'm heavily invested in packout and wanted to try out toughbuilt. So far I like the toughbuilt just as much as my packout. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. I never liked any other system other than these two. Also there are a lot of accessories available on etsy for the whole packout system. Including the aluminum frame on the sides to mount a crap ton of accessories!

Great review, but way too expensive for what you get. I almost bought 3 of the milwaukee drawers until I realized I was dropping $600

If you want budget then go with craftsman or ryobi

The dewalt ones go on sale for a decent price. I got 3 boxes for a cheaper price than the craftsman @@user-jh1mq2ih2u

Would be cool if we could even buy tough built 3 drawers. Every drawer type has been sold out/unavailable in my area for months. Reading some Reddit threads looks like the company is in some trouble and might not make it through the year. Don't love the red boxes of Milwaukee and making me consider Flex pack. Still can't decide. The aftermarket of the packout is tempting.

Nice to see these two side by side. I am getting my first modular system and I picked Toughbuilt. I don't see much point in locking the drawers myself, but it's always good to have more than one top option and until Toughbuilt came out it was Packout on top and everyone else far behind.

I went with Toughbuilt because of the black, modern look, they are cheaper and they will be releasing cool new innovative products.

You’re right, less storage space in the bigger, heavier toughbuilt drawers…

Great comparison! One thing I'd like to mention is the consistency in the drawer system between the two. Go to your local big box store, and you be the judge. Look at both brands closely and at multiple of the same model. Thank you again for the great comparison!

I am not racist. My packout have Snap-on mid depth swivel sockets,Stabila levels,Knipex pliers, and Tajima tape measures and Metabo grinders. I require durability/ max internal space/usability/ innovation in that order. Color and brand is of little interest to me. If i would win the lottery, i would build my own out of aluminum 30" wide ,2nd best is packout. Internal usable inches are precious ,exterior has a slight value. I install cabinets so usability is important to me. ST winner in the exterior with smooth gussets, bars in lids, more modular. PO wins internal drawer space, stronger latch/mounting system, acceptable tolerances with debris when attaching, pos dolly after moving wheels outboard holds tools in the rear, full width fits above 1/2. These are my opinions, again am looking for a durable volume of storage. A Milwaukee level next to a Stabila is no comparison. When a system much much better than packout comes along,I'll drop it faster than green grass through a goose. It simply must be much better.

@@billystray7007 we had the 1 drawer box online for awhile before they became dormant (unavailable to order), BUT I was ultimately waiting for the dolly. I like to move my tool boxes around. All I can say, I think toughbuilt is having trouble manufacturing them in China and we are most likely dealing with a supply chain order again, which seems to be affecting home depot as well. Lack of merchandisers doing their job to set them on the shelves. I used to look at the overstocks, but no luck. I never knew it would be this bad. I used to have a guy who was able to find locations with his phone, but they can only do it if the item is not "inactive."

Toughbuilt's locking mechanism has too many moving parts meaning more potential failure points. Packout has better milage. Otherwise, stacktech with its hideous black and yellow would be the way to go. I almost went that route, but Milwaukee is the wiser option.

For a 10 dollar difference between the 2 and toughbuilt you still have e to buy a plate to fix the fubar they did when stacking uneven units and no mounting plate … if they beat pack out by 50-60 dollars I’d consider it … but to be a 10 dollar difference ain’t worth it when you have to buy adapters to make it work

I tried to upgrade to Packout drawers from my $45 husky connect drawers. I was so excited to get better drawers but ultimately returned them because they were to heavy when filled. I am disappointed to hear toughbuilt drawers are also heavy. I want durability but lightweight is more important.

Toughbuilt has slimmer single drawer boxes but at that point I fear the boxes will weigh more than what’s inside.

This is a real problem that no company has addressed. Tstak/Versastack is the only current compact drawer setup thats affordable and lightweight. If packout made a compact drawer based on their compact boxes, it would be a big win. If a company makes a compact (half sized) tool box, they could easily make half size drawers.

@3jmontg I like the size of those boxes, they're the only toolbox system that can compete with the very fragile festool/tanos systainer I like to make up single powertool kits & I'm trying to move out of systainers, im tired of replacing parts or for that matter the whole box
