I love that you are focusing on books you already own - it is so tempting to read the newest and latest. I haven't read Little Women yet, but your review really makes me want to!

So glad you really enjoyed Little Dorrit!!!! I also felt the same way about Tender is the Night and was disappointed by it. I just recently read The Beautiful and the Damned by Fitzgerald and really enjoyed that one :)

I read Tender is the Night last year, and I can see why you didn't like it; it's all over the place. However, I think the "hot mess" aspect of it was intentional; Fitzgerald was showing the audience what is was like to be married to Zelda. Their marriage was weird and messy and chaotic, and ultimately, a failure. I think he wrote this book to immortalize their relationship, and give her the voice she couldn't give herself because of her mental instability. I loved it, but I can definitely see why it's unappealing. Love your vlog videos! :)

Yeah, I've been told afterwards that it's a retelling of his own marriage. I think, however, that a book should be able to speak for itself - without the reader having to search for background info in order to understand it ;) More vlog videos coming your way :D

I really love this vlog style reading wrap up! It's so fun to hear your thoughts on the books as you finish them. I'm sorry you didn't like The Forgotten Garden! I love Kate Morton - but, clearly she's not for everyone! I had my mom read TFG as well a few months ago and she was also pretty lukewarm about it. :)

You made a good dent in your unread books! And there were some big ones! I hope you are feeling better now. I feel like there is someone ill in every family I know..there was a wave of influensa here in Finland in the turn of the year.

Peony Yes, I did, and I'm so happy about that 😊 Yeah, being ill was no fun, but it's that time of the year, unfortunately, when a lot of people seem to be getting the flu...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't that impressed by Tender Is The Night - I really struggled to get through it for some reason! I've not read a Fitzgerald since, uh oh... You read so many great sounding books this month, I love catching up with you in your reading vlogs :)

I had started so many times Tender is the Night in the past and I dnf it almost immediately. I can' t get interested in this classic and it's a pity! Great video as always! You inspired me to read Little Dorrit. I was ready to reread Rebecca but I put it down and I am picking up Little Dorrit right now from my shelf!

If you know about the life and marriage of Fitzgerald and his wife you know what "Tender is the night" is about;-) After I read a couple of biographies about these two, I loved this novel.

Yeah, I've been told afterwards that it's a retelling of Fitzgerald's own marriage. I think, however, that a book should be able to stand for itself without the reader having to search for background info in order to understand it. Or the info should at least be a foreword to the book, if you understand what I mean ;)

It was the first Fitzgerald that I ever read and I didn't know anything about him or his life. Nevertheless I loved it. But it started my interest and made me read a couple of biographies afterwards.

I love this style of blog - it's really fun to watch you wander around your lovely apartment and talk about books. I was happy to see your thoughts on the Kate Morton - I started it and couldn't get into and I have been feeling like I want to try again, but now I'm going to just DNF it and toss it in the "donate" bag. Any others of hers that you'd recommend? Thanks, Gina

If it was the style of Kate Morton's book you didn't like then I wouldn't try any of her others as they're all pretty much in the same style.
