I would love to see the genre come back where we see authors bring back historical romances the way we want them to be written. The problem I have is the newer stuff just doesn't work for me or if it does its rare. Like bring back the ROMANCE in historicals again lol Its not me not wanting to necessarily reading the genre, its that the books coming out just feels so boring. With no adventure or excitement, no swoons or feels, just seems too focused on agendas and not enough of the relationship and that beautiful build of chemistry and connection. My goal this challenge and this upcoming year is to read older romances that has that historical magic. I LOVED Rogue in Texas. Its AMAZING!!! All her westerns are wonderful and made me so sad when Avon wouldn't do any more westerns for her because she is top notch.

I do know that publishers are currently not “buying” new historicals. At least for newer authors, they’re being pushed towards more indie/small pub. Not sure if that means current authors will be resigned once current contracts are up. It makes me sad. Excited for the readathon!

Hi Jenn! Just a small question for the Readathon. Is that the type of Readathon that we can pick a book and make it match as many prompts as we can? Do I understand that correctly?

You can do it either way!! There are 2 boards with preset prompts. And 1 empty board, which you choose the prompts yourself! 🥰 The ones you choose yourself, means you can technically "stack" said board if you want. 😅
