I've been co-reading books (audio+physical at the same time) like CRAZY recently, it feels like the way only I can finish super chunky books these days. also I super relate to the idea of reading big books in January when you feel like you have time, my largest reading month page count wise is always in January lol

Looking forward to Sangu Mandanna’s next book so much that I didn’t even need to read the synopsis. Just the title (A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping) and the cute cover was enough for me. Top three books I read in January: Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries, Nevermoor, and The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine.

I really loved the project of How high we go in the dark. Not everything landed for me but the whole thing was fascinating. Irregular witches was a surprise cause I thought it would be too cutesy, but the found family worked so well. Happy reading.

I read Way of Kings in January too. I had read all of Mistborn era1 and 2 last year and finally decided to jump into Stormlight. I really loved WoK. Now my goal is to catch up with the rest of the cosmere before Stormlight 5 releases in December…. Might be a bit ambitious

I attempted The Expanse a couple years ago, but at the time I wasn't motivated to continue. I would like to give it another shot, because I still trying to get into SYFY. Even though I was enjoying it, it took me a long time to read The Way of Kings, but I finished it last year.

Okay, I'm intrigued by How High We Go in the Dark, I'm surprised it hasn't made it onto my TBR before now. If you like lightly speculative near-future fiction - you might check out Adrift by Brideau (my fave read of 2023) - it had some St. John Mandel vibes to me but more climate fiction than pandemic. I gave Adrift all the stars and would love to see more folks read it!
