I loved living off base! It was more convenient being on base for my wife and to a certain degree me. When we were moving in to our off base housing, we forgot how to get there! Took us an hour to find it, even though we passed it a couple of times! I know, should have waited for the moving van. Nice house by the way. Also by the way, climb Mt. Fuji. My wife said she wanted to do that, and of course I thought she was crazy. We did it and it was the main highlight of my time there! I found it to be an easy climb, but I was 29 and not too long Out of the Bermuda Regiment, so my fitness level hadn't completely worn away.

Lol at getting lost. If it weren’t for navigation I would be struggling. My husband wants to climb Mt. Fuji not sure if I want to our not. We will see 🤪

Hi. Thank you for uploading your video about your experience. We have our orders for Japan 🇯🇵 and are looking at arriving in September. Very exciting 😀 also, if you haven't noticed yet, check your bathroom walls. Many bathrooms in Japan have magnetic walls for shelves and organizers
@williamsworld03 Жыл бұрын
How exciting!! Have you been here before? I checked our bathroom walls and they aren't magnetic:( I was hopeful though.

I'm so glad that you guys got your place! Now we are living out of suitcases, and should be there by the middle of May. The Navy is sending us home for 30 days to see family since we haven't been state side in 3 years.

We are near Hayama about 20 minutes from the main base. We used iE.ESTATE and our realtor was/is Tomomi. She’s been great. Anytime we have an issue we email her and she responds promptly. I believe the house 1600 square feet. Safe travels. If you have any other questions let me know. I’d be happy to help.

The place looks amazing! My husband and I should be arriving there in about a week or so. Do you know if there’s a waitlist for on base housing in case they don’t have something available ? Kinda nervous to live off base 😅

That’s exciting!! I’m not sure if there is a waitlist right now or not. I’ll tell we truly enjoy living off base, nothing to be afraid of 😊💕

I lived in Japan years ago and may go back for work. I'm just curious, is the bed your primary room King Size? Also, what area is that? Looks like Hayama (I think), expensive area yes?
@williamsworld03 Жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to see how much Japan has changed since you were last here. Yes, that’s a king size bed and you are spot on with the area too. It does appear to be a more affluent area.

3 months at the hotel????? 😱 That gives me anxiety!!!! The house is awesome! I always wanted to live off base however being on base was a game changer as the young kids can go in and out as desired while I have no worries. Question: were you given a choice? (On base, off base, townhomes, towers, etc ..)
@williamsworld03 Жыл бұрын
Thank you💕 We were in an Airbnb in va before left for a month, then the navy lodge in md for a couple weeks then we stayed at the lodge in Yokosuka for a little over a month. So it was 3 months some of which by choice because we rented our home in the states. At the housing brief they told us nothing was available so we had to begin looking to live off base which is what we preferred.

Hi, new to your channel. The house looks amazing. I'll be pcsing to Japan later this year. My husband is Navy and they informed him that living off base is not an option. Not sure if it's a new thing or if you guys are in a different branch.
@williamsworld03 Жыл бұрын
Thank you💕 My husband is in the Navy too and you have to stay on base if that is available. We didn’t find out until we got here and went to the housing brief that nothing was available so we got to move out in town. So it just depends on availability. Safe travels to Japan. Let me know if you have any questions.
@tinwenwalks9 ай бұрын
I was wondering about this too. My husband assumed we would be off base as he always has been until we got an email yesterday about the mandatory on base. They said even if we get off base housing because nothing is available at the time, they’ll move us back on base once something opens up (mandatory supposedly). That seems messy lol did yall get to choose this place with the understanding that it would be for the duration of your stay in Japan? Sorry I’m blowing up your videos with questions, thanks for the useful and entertaining content!
@williamsworld039 ай бұрын
They told us base housing was mandatory too but they didn’t have anything available for us. We do have a dog so that limits where we can stay on base so maybe that helped us get off base housing. We were not told that we would have to move back on base when something became available. We signed a three year lease with the understanding we will be off base until we leave Japan. It’s kind of hit or miss with off base housing so we downsized a lot to prepare for either. Please don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as you have. I did the same thing lol

My mom Kazuko Mikami lived at 2 Chome 1-15 Futaba Yokosuka, Japan is there anyway you could find it for me? I'd like to get photos or video of outside house and surroundings. My mom died Dec 29, 2014 and my dad Mar. 18, 2019. They met while my dad was in the United States Navy stationed in Yokosuka. Her mom was Myia Mikami and her father's name we believe was rather Katsutaro or Datsutaro Mikami He owned a store in Yokosuka Japan. My mom had a best friend there named Tomiko Aioko or spelled something like that. I hope you would help me because I know little of my mom's background. I'm sorry I'm bothering you and thank you very much.
