Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Village, a World Heritage site where you will be soothed by the nostalgic and beautiful scenery of Japan.
It is a precious and beautiful village that still retains the historical scenery of Gokayama, where gassho-zukuri houses from about 100 to 350 years ago are still standing.
The thatched roof houses called "gassho-zukuri" are a very rare type of private house that can only be seen in this neighborhood in Japan, and 20 gassho-zukuri houses still exist here in Ainokura Gassho Village.
There are many things to see, such as the original gassho-zukuri style, which is the only original gassho-zukuri style remaining in Gokayama, large and small gassho-zukuri houses, and thatched roof temples. People still live in the village, and the old-fashioned way of life is still alive.
