In Japan, children are not treated like entitled brats. They grow up with strict discipline and schools teach them social responsibility right from a young age. Cleaning is made into a habit and kids regularly clean their schools and classrooms and not made to feel ashamed about it. On the contrary if the same is done in India, all hell breaks loose, it becomes tv news, people are sacked from their jobs just because parents spoil their kids a lot here. Then the same people complain about India being dirty.

Yes, colonial English education has killed talent in India and only produced coolies who can only get BPO type jobs. Learning a foreign language is not a bad thing but when it becomes a requirement to progress then it becomes a big problem. Millions of talented people in India could never get ahead only because they didn't know good English. For example people from small towns and rural areas. In India English is a sign of elitism propagated by the ruling class. Nearly all the developed countries use their native languages in education and research. But English slaves act as if you can't do anything in your life without knowing English. Only now the government has started to look into this issue and with the rise of nationalism, people also have started feeling proud in expressing themselves in their native mother tongues. Still a long way to go.

The major chunk of children's time is spent in schools, and that is the reason they are considered to be the second home for them. And thus the teachings in schools plays a major role in moulding the thinking and behaviour process of kids.
