On Thursday, southwestern Japan was battered by heavy rain and intense winds as Typhoon Shanshan made its fierce landfall in Kagoshima Prefecture. The powerful storm, which authorities classified as a strong typhoon, has left a significant impact on the region, disrupting daily life and causing widespread damage. Over a quarter of a million households across the region lost power as the storm's destructive force knocked out the electrical grid, plunging many areas into darkness.
