The game "Kaze no NOTAM" looks breathtaking and apart from the wonderful low-poly atmosphere that I love, there is also perfect music. It reminds me a bit of OST from other fantastic Artdink games, "No One Can Stop Mr. Domino". Which has the same sound designers namely Shingo Murakami and Ryuji Nishida. Rather, I think there could be a connection with the musical style of both games ... only that there is more relaxation. I really love both soundtracks and they inspire me until now. Thanks so much for Rewiev!!!😄👍

kaze no notam's got an immaculate vibe. I love the Hiroshi Nagai box art, soundtrack, and lowpoly graphics. I've seen Vinny play Screaming Mad George's Paranoiascape. The music didn't play so it was more unsettling. This game is an unfiltered purely artist-driven game.

One suggestion I'd like to make for the non-Japan wheel is Sentient - a Psygnosis game that's a really weird mish-mash of adventure and space station simulator with ambition that far exceeds what it's really capable of. Highly detailed conversation systems, difficulty settings that include a "respect for player" slider, strangely deep lore, amazing FMVs, twelve endings and a soundtrack that only exists as a deluxe edition exclusive CD you're supposed to play alongside the game (which is thankfully on KZbin). I think it's a game that really deserves a spotlight. That, or Broken Helix, because I want to see someone suffer through that.
@SeanSeanson2 жыл бұрын
Since somebody already picked Broken Helix and Id like to avoid any potential suffering, I'll add the very ambitious Sentient on your behalf instead :)

YES! Kaze no NOTAM! Wheel finally gave you the game I wanted to review the most. There's very few "screensaver" games that feel as relaxing as this (others being underwater diving games or photography based games) Glad you looked into Artdink. I also recommend looking into their signature strategy game, A-Train series. Older A-trains barely look like games and more of a simulation

YAY! Another volume of "Japan Only PS1 Games! 非常にすばらしい! Game 1: Oh, I remember the bird from the Japanese commercial (in fact if you look up compilations of Japanese commercials on KZbin there is a good chance you will find in there). Nowadays I have to think of Gammamon saying he wants his champion (which is what he says to chocolate) when I see those chocolate balls. Anyways, the game seems to be surprisingly good. Surprisingly because commercial- and mascot-based games can be a hit or miss. Game 2: There isn't much to say besides that the level layout(s) look ... bland. Game 3: I have actually watched a small gameplay footage of that game recently and I thought to myself that the game looks very relaxing. Seems there is more to it than meets the eyes. Game 4: What if a game like *LSD: Dream Emulator* would be a 3D pinball game? Well, here is the answer. Thank you so much for another very informative and fun video!

The best thing you could ever done by talking about Dangan, is to name The Red Star as a reference on beat them all/shoot them up. This game is f-cking awesome, one of my all time favourite games on PS2 !! I used to play it again a ton of times with friends, on multiplayer is absolutly dope and addictive. So sad Dagan is that bad... All the other games are really interesting. I heard about the hot air balloon simalutor, it seems much more interesting what I though ! Pretty unique experience for sure. The bird plat-former seems great but sadly too expensive for what it is and tha last one is why I watch this kind of videos: there's always that completly weird game hidden in the PS1 library ! Thank you for the video and see you in the next one !

Second Comment: Now that you've mentioned commercials being your favourite to watch as an infant, a lot of the ones before the turn of the millennium are ridiculously surreal. My favourite is the Australian commercial for the original Nintendo, which basically has 3D abominations of video game characters from Super Mario Bros. Duck Hunt, and Gyromite repeating the same "You Cannot Beat Us" sentence with unsettling robot voices. Such a weird commercial that either frightened or motivated children. I heard the NES did fairly well in Australia, especially compared to the UK, but yikes, what a rough first impression, lol.

Great video, the 1st game i had been looking at just recently & was thinking of making a video on it as it looks really cool but now that I've seen it in action, yea its definitely worth trying out. I played Dangan a while back & I agree it has a cool concept but that's really it, I got bored playing it & couldn't get past a narrow corridor section on one of the later levels with loads of turrets & respawning enemies so I just gave up, really frustrating. I never heard about Kaze no NOTAM & I like it, very quirky, unique, very experimental for sure. I seen images of Paranoia Scape a few months back & I agree it is definitely out there, that's for sure but I agree with you on the PS1 being an unfiltered era for ideas and experimentation, thats why its my favorite console, it really had something for everyone! If we didn't have experimental games like these both good & bad, games today I think would be very different! Again Awesome video, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some describe it a mix of a Detective game, LSD Dream Emulator and Kings Field. Sadly its pretty much unplayable without japanese but the cover alone and the visuals.... Its a pretty ambitious game and just walking through the city is a exprience in itself.

Been vibing to notam of wind’s soundtrack for some years now. Kinda lofi 90s trip hop. Basically turns the game into an interactive music video. If you dig that check out Digital Dreamware for 3do, which is really just that. Also shout out to Hiroshi Nagais immaculate art! Damn Dangan, you could be a fun game. I’d love to see a top down beat em up! Wasn’t kyoro chan also used for a port of an c64 game with the turning tower? And again so close to my pick… but I love weird video pinball games. Great genre. And now I wonder if you know the Zeiram movies, anime and games?
@SeanSeanson2 жыл бұрын
You've got good taste! I'm sad I've been sleeping on Notams OST for so long. It's really one of the consoles finest. I'll look into Digital Dreamware, somebody in the comments recomended a PS1 game called Fluid as well which seems to do something similar. Yeah the first Kyoro Chan gameboy game is just a reskin of that turning tower game, the actual name escapes me but I had the original on a pirate cart years ago. I feel bad, I don't think any game has gotten so close to being picked more than yours haha. It'll happen eventually :)

NOTAM is an abbreviation of NOtice To Air Men (or Air Missions, since in 2024 saying word "men" is sexist), which includes information for pilots. From my limited knowledge of aviation they don't include wind directions though (unless it's hurricane level), that's what ATIS is for alongside other weather report info, but maybe it was different when this game was made, or maybe they didn't mean anything by "NOTAM of Wind" title.
