Let me clarify why some commenters are saying we are all born as muslims. A "muslim" is one who submits to the will of Allah (God). When a child is born, by nature that child is submitting and following the will of Allah, and therefore as muslims we believe that ALL human beings are born as muslim. But as children grow up their family, culture, and society can influence them to become Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, agnostic, etc... And, we muslims, also believe that plants, trees, insects, and animals are muslim as well because they worship(in their own way) Allah .

I’ve done some research only to find that the sheer number of underlying societal and politically economical issues they house is extraordinary. From the ridiculous suicide rate and the even more ridiculous work-life balance to the sky-rocketing divorce rates and the discrimination against non-Japanese. Some of these reasons may be due to Japan being a primarily Atheist country in this day and age. So maybe, just maybe, Japan isn’t such a great country after all.

During Azan, the "Bilal/ Muazzin" covers his ears to focus on his voice just like your friend's guess. However, what you see is probably the "Takbiratul Ihram" , a procedure where Muslims will raise their hands near their heads while reciting "Allahu Akbar" meaning "God is Great", when they perform the obligatory prayers. As for the translation of the Azan, each line (breath) that you listened to is translated into a sentence as below: God is the greatest. God is the greatest. God is the greatest. God is the greatest. I testify that there is no God except God. I testify that there is no God except God. I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of God. I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of God. Come to prayer! Come to prayer! Come to success! Come to success! God is the greatest. God is the greatest. There is none worthy of worship except God

Putting the hands in from of the ears and taking them off (while praying) is a gesture that mimics chasing away the devil from whispering in your ears while you're praying and pushing you to lose focus. The hands that stay in front of their ears while doing azan (calling to prayer) is usually done to help their voice bonce off their palm and reach their ears easily so that they can hear more precisely how they are doing the azan

From a revert Muslim from Thailand.. Both of your reaction give me more confident.. What i can share is Islam can be understand as fitrah(nature). Suits our life. All people will feeling peace and comfortable after hearing adzan also me at first time because all of us are born as an innocent creature. And all of us are born as a Muslim😊.. Love all religion.. I hope all my Muslim sisters and brothers respect all religion.. Because most of them respect us just like my non Muslim family.. Just a stupid children who just believe in media would hate Muslim..

I feel home as soon as I hear Azan, no matter where like Turkey or Albania or Kosovo. It’s the feeling like I arrived, because in western countries there are no AZANS.

Appreciated your steps towards showing love towards Azaan and Islam...by the way let me tell u in last year's total mosques has increased by 20% ...in 2010 the total mosques in Japan was less then 100. But now mosques in Japan is more than 124...muslims in Japan also has increased by 30%.

Hei Tim, I'm Indonesian. The very second I saw her name 0:03 "Ayu", I thought she was indonesian. But when she speaks nihon go, ah no, may be her complete name is ayumi or something. However then she says her father is from indonesia 0:52, man! So that name must be taken from her father's mother land! No wonder if she also say her nostalgic feeling 5:52, she must 've heard azan before, may be when she was just an infant. If she ever been in Indonesia, no way she never heard azan. I don't know why her father didn't tell her much about islam. Anyway. We muslims in indonesia always give respect to Japanese people regarding your work ethics and discipline. You guys don't know nothing about islam, but you do things that a muslim should do. How you work, how you respect older people, how you use your time, and many other things. If a Japanese becomes a muslim, he will be a very good practising muslim. Nice video, guys! Salam from Java Island, Indonesia.

i am a turkish muslim living in germany and i was so touched I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU TRAVELED TO MUSLIM AREAS AND JUST SAW THE BEAUTY OF MUSLIM PEOPLE AND ISLAM😭😭😭 media shows our peaceful religion in a very bad , cruel and false way... please people.. if you are interested in islam, dont search on the internet or believe the false information spreading media, GO there, visit the mosque, GO to the countries.. and the most important thing.. be open-minded and try not to create a negative mindset😔😭

4:51 I’m a Muslim from Kuwait 🇰🇼 In the Arabian gulf .🧕🏻 , This move isn’t blocking your ear !❌ It’s putting your hand or two fingers BEHIND your ear and push your ears little forward.. it will let you hear your voice clearer .. this is from islamic teaching.. Also many Arabian singers do that .. try it ! And sing or talk loud you will notice a different in hearing . 5:17 It is Arabic language .. I love japan so much I’m studying your language these days💜🎌

You asked earlier what does it mean to put his hands around the ear, most of the time they’re trying to hear themselves because it’s harder to hear with the microphones on or the speaker so he puts his hands on his ears and he listens to his own voice personally and focus more. God bless you brother!

These is the reasons why i love Japanese people so much, they are so respectful to others religion and cultures the way they do it in their country. I really hope I can visit Japan someday The hand holding on the ear is that to focus on the (azan) Call of the Prayer and focus on your voice, that's what it means. I hope it helps. Love from Philippines ❤️

Nice reaction from both of you and I hope you both felt peace inside you while listening this Azan. in my opinion for both of you is that you should read the books and Quran with translation in English or in your language, so you both should understand Islam more. It’s a religion of peace. in America Islam is the fast growing religion and lots of Americans became Muslims every day. So when you study about Islam, you will know more about Islam. Don’t believe in fake propaganda in media about Islam. Allah bless both of you. Love from New York.❤️❤️
