🏯✨ Join me on a mesmerizing journey through the life of Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary Japanese swordsman and philosopher. In the tapestry of 17th-century Japan, Musashi emerged as a wandering ronin, born in 1584, navigating the complex world of samurai and embarking on a quest for martial mastery.
Miyamoto Musashi's legacy is eternally intertwined with the art of the sword, particularly his groundbreaking Niten Ichi-ryū. This unique two-sword style, employing both katana and wakizashi, showcased Musashi's unparalleled skill and strategic brilliance on the battlefield.
The pinnacle of Musashi's fame rests upon the iconic duel at Ganryū Island in 1612. Facing Sasaki Kojirō, Musashi's unorthodox tactics and the audacious use of a wooden sword carved from an oar secured his victory, etching his name indelibly into the annals of samurai lore.
Beyond his martial prowess, Musashi was a philosopher and artist. In his later years, he penned "The Book of Five Rings" (Gorin no Sho), a profound treatise on strategy, tactics, and the martial mindset. Musashi's wisdom extended to the realms of philosophy and art, reflecting the depth of his character beyond the battlefield.
Subscribe now to ASMR Historian and be transported into the rich tapestry of Miyamoto Musashi's life. Immerse yourself in the delicate whispers as we uncover the mysteries, teachings, and cultural nuances that defined the essence of this legendary swordsman and philosopher.

Im starting to think he was more inspiration for goku than even son wu kong He's a wildman archetype who craves battle and testing himself against opponents, gets the honorary title kami, battles someone titled the demon of the west, barely survives a battle where both land their special attack at once, hasn't had a bath, etc

Not to mention the sleeping in before the duel! There is a unique blend between Chinese and Japanese cultures within DBZ. The first time I visited Guizhou province I went out to see some mountains, the unique landscapes in the southern Chinese countryside are so similar to the art style of DBZ. I'm not sure if Toriyama ever visited those places, but I'm sure he took inspiration from them.

@ASMR_Historian How do you come up with all these topics? Do you already have knowledge about them, or do you research everything after you choose a topic? For example, the book of the 5 Rings, did you read it beforehand or did you read it for this video?

I read the book of 5 rings many years ago, I still remember the day I bought it. As for the topics, I started on the bronze age, and one thing led to another, 200 videos later and I'm still finding things to talk about.
