In my childhood and teenager time I recall the Karate training with military and law enforcement personels. And the training was similar to this. I did not understand why the senpai were so brutal. Now I understand, the logic of dead life situation. On one hand I see the point but on the other hand training is not real fight. No training will be similar to real fight. We should train without injuring ourselves as far as possible. Because the reason of training is to safe us from hurt, injury or death.

Yes Exactly Training Like That You Have To Defend Yourself, And Some Is going To Get Hurt You End Up With No One Left To Teach

I think the training here hits just the right amount of contact. It still isnt full power and penetration. There is still control.

First time I see an interesting perspective of shotokan karate.....much better than the dancing around you see nowadays in competition, where its about screaming the loudest, just a speed move and too much padding (talking about WKF)
Would this division or style every cross train with a Muay Thai fighter or pure boxer to test their own techniques effectiveness? Wouldn't this be useful for Jyu Kumite which is supposed to be applied in real world or military applications?

like so many so many martial artists and I use the term loosely here no defense just two people wailing at each other punching towards each other's faces wailing and flailing not impressive skill really anyone can do this with no skill at all

If all karate/kenpo matches were based on a point system instead of a KO system, uke techniques would not develop. Because you have to attack to get points. from.japan

Thing is, this is Japanese karate, which has a different philosophy, when compared to the original Okinawan karate. Search "ippon kumite", you'll see what I mean.
