Any tips flying newark to tokyo? Recommendations for airlines etc!

we decided to do a direct flight to just get it over with! as soon as I got on the plane, I changed my phones clock to tokyo time and tried to follow that time during the flight. for example, we departed at 10am EST which is 10pm Tokyo Time, so I closed my eyes and tried to sleep from then until what was technically 6am tokyo time. watched a lot of movies to distract me from the long flight as well. I also bought a sleep mask, a blow up travel pillow that allowed me to lean forward and to the side (get really comfy), and some compression socks. we flew with United bc it was the only option for a decent priced direct flight

Do you know the name of the first shrine/garden before you all went to Meji-jingu? Its stunning!

we had to go to Sendagaya to visit an english speaking health clinic, and on our way back we unintentionally stumbled upon this shrine. it was totally unplanned so at the time we didn’t know the name, but I just looked it up and it’s called “Hatonomori Hachiman Shrine” :)

hmmm ... I would have gone to Monzen-Nakacho and Mitaka ... they are the most beautiful and interesting neighborhoods ... Italia Gai is nice too ...
