Heyy I'm also from UBC and wanting to go to Japan to study abroad. I was wondering did you study in Kyoto university? If so how was it? I'm having a tough time deciding to go to Kyoto or Tokyo! 🥲

hii i went to ritsumeikan university in kyoto! i mainly chose it bc my friend had good things to say abt it & ritsumeikan has close ties to ubc haha but it was super fun!! i think kyoto vs tokyo depends on if u like big cities or not :O i liked kyoto a lot but not too much happens event-wise (ex. concerts, fan expos) so if ur into that i would recommend tokyo instead ^^ super exciting that u want to go to japan tho!!!! lmk if u have any other questions hehe

@ I'm not a huge event person so that's fine but I wanted to experience a bigger city. Though idk if I would get sick of it after a while 😅 what kind of courses did you take? What was the public transportation like when you went? Did you mostly take the bus or walk or was the train decent?

@ for classes i took mostly electives! since i was taking classes in english the options were limited, but my school was also relatively small ^^ and for public transportation, my school was pretty far from kawaramachi (downtown) so i relied a lot on buses, but the trains/subways are super convenient and quick if u live closer to the city! esp in tokyo u can take their subways almost anywhere
