JAPAN VLOGS - Tokyo. Rugby World Cup, Shibuya Crossing, Yoyogi Park, Starbucks Roastery, Genki Sushi

Welcome to this new series of JAPAN VLOGS!!! Join me every Wednesday 5pm for a new Japan vlog. I film every day from our trip in September 2019 showing you Kyoto, Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea. Hope you enjoy!!
We start by heading to Dean and Deluca at Shinjuku station for some breakfast. It was incredible! We then take a short walk to the Government building (Tocho) where you can go up 45 floors and have a free look over the city. It was stunning. Inside was a display for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. We walk to Yoyogi Park and check out the Meiji Shrine. We walk through Shibuya and Harajuku quickly to get to the world's largest Starbucks Roastery. It was so cool inside!! By this point we were very tight for time so we rushed back to the hotel to get ready for the Rugby World Cup match! The main reason why we did this trip. We watched France vs Argentina. It was such a great atmosphere. Unfortunately I dropped my camera and so we went to Yodabashi Camera to buy a new one. We go back to the hotel room so I can catch you all up on what happened. Then we head out for dinner. We go to Genki Sushi for some sushi and it was the coolest restaurant. The sushi comes out on little trolleys! After dinner we head to the famous Shibuya Crossing or Shibuya Scramble. We get a great view of it from a Starbucks. We try and go to the Disney Store but it's closed! We will go back tomorrow though. We go back to the hotel where are room has been upgraded. We are staying at Hotel Citadines Central. Hope you enjoy!! So many things to do in Tokyo!!!

Wow - what a busy day! I nearly went to that shrine with my work colleagues but we got there in our Uber that wasn't really an Uber and discovered it was closed 😂 Wish we'd tried that sushi place, it looks fun! We were so excited when we saw you go to Genki sushi! We recently went to the Aulani in Hawaii and found a Genki sushi nearby there and absolutely loved it!! The delivery method there is more like a monorail vehicle though. 🤗 The Starbucks roasters looks absolutely amazing! - Kelly

We have Genki Sushi here in Hawaii. They have mini-shinkansen that bring us the plates. It used to be conveyor belts but they renovated a few years ago.

Your World Cup Rugby adventure reminds me of the World Cup International Football adventure I had in Germany with my family in 2006. It was just interesting to go to a match (we went to USA vs Ghana) it was an experience watching your national team play (we played horribly -- so go England! -- another long story). The fact you saw a Rugby match in general looks fun! I was in London in September 2019, and everyone was getting ready to cheer on England. It was SO much fun!

I may do a comment as you go here. I love that you touched up on the Olympic stuff. I am BIG fan of the Olympics. Another thing I am a BIG fan of is walking around and not taking the "Underground" or the "Metro" of different cities (within your home country or outside of your home country) you do MISS a lot! It's a good workout, and just fun sight seeing as you make you way through the city you are visiting! My favorite part of visiting different cities!

Tokyo has grown "UP" so much since I was there. Those government buildings were not there. The short one was but not the one that you went in. The bakery looked awesome. Both sweet and savory. Breakfast look so good and I can’t believe that since you love your chocolate you said “I don’t think I could eat an whole chocolate pretzel”. 🤣 Great view of the city despite having your ear pop on the way up in the lift.😂. 2012 best Olympics ever....... Yoyogi Park was so peaceful and I loved that all the guide signs had an English translation and lovely wedding venue. The Starbucks FASTPASS comment was so funny, too much choice for me. I just want a plain black coffee. 🤣 Stunning building though. Despite the broken camera (obviously a good excuse to buy a new camera - ha,ha) it was great iPhone footage. No doubt being fluent in French you joined in merrily with the national anthem. 🤣 I’m not a sushi eater, I prefer my fish with batter round it but I loved how easy it was to order and the way it was delivered. The Shibuya Crossing was like a swarm of ants. Thankfully Fast & Furious wasn’t being filmed 🤣🤣. The sadness in your voice when the Disney Store was closed. 😥 Finally no Isabelle this week. No childminding as my wife is in Ireland for our other granddaughters confirmation tomorrow. She’ll be back to see some of Tokyo Disney next week.

Bummer about the camera, but at least you get to enjoy and upgraded model now. I'm starting to think Mt. Fuji doesn't exist. Also the sushi looked amazing (like all the other food so far), and those prices on the monitor were so cheap. I think it was about a dollar and some change for two pieces of sushi seems like such a good value! Thanks again for sharing as always!

We have booked a hotel in Shibuya. So I’m glad to hear it’s got a good vibe. I read somewhere it was a good base to tour Tokyo. Sorry your camera got damaged. I’m hoping that Hong Kong and Japan Disney parks are open when we go have read that they are planning to close them due to the Corona virus. We went to the Universal Mardi Gras yesterday and have managed to get a place on a float in next Monday’s parade throwing the beads into the crowds. Thanks for the Starbucks details xx

Hi Andrea, yes I'd definitely recommend staying at Shibuya. Shinjuku was great for trains but where we were staying was a little bit sketchy. The hotel was fine but getting there was a little dodgy so I'd definitely recommend Shibuya. Yeah I've heard they've closed them already, hope it will all be ok for you!!! That's so exciting about Universal!! Hope you had fun doing that!!!

It seems like only yesterday for me since the Olympic and Paralympic games was in London and years later, in July 2014, on my 21st Birthday, I got to visit the park that was used for the big sporting events and only went up the Orbit Tower (this was during the time that the main stadium was having it's construction upgrade for West Ham Football team to move in to it so that was pretty much off limits)

OMG! Can I just start with the Bakery!!!! Wow, I would happily have breakfast there every single day for the rest of my life! I think I’ll be dreaming about the chocolate pretzel tonight 🤣 The sushi place looked amazing too, I love how the plates come out! Sushi is my favourite so I’m sure I’d love it there. I bet the Olympics will be great there this summer, I can’t wait to watch it. My dream destination is Japan, so thank you for sharing your wonderful trip with us and I can’t wait to see Tokyo Disney!

You need to buy it before you go as it is only available to tourists. You can pick it up in Japan but the voucher must be purchased outside Japan

It wasn't cheap cheap it was still £648 lol but cheaper than getting it here. I was more annoyed that I didn't need to spend that as I had a perfectly good working camera before I was careless lol. Never mind I have a nice new camera now. Yes haha I don't eat sushi either but they had other things and it was worth going just to see it all, such a fun experience! I'm always on at the kids about checking they've got everything!! I got it back though. Thankfully we aren't too far from Heathrow and drove back and someone had handed it in.
