Japanese Alps road trip vlog | Autumn leaves in Shibu Onsen & Kusatsu | October 2023 | Lisa Preece

Here is the 4th vlog in my Japan travel series! Today, we leave Kyoto and travel on the shinkansen bullet train to Kanazawa and then Nagano. We picked up a rental car with Times Car Rental and headed out into the countryside! We stayed at Shibu Onsen. We stayed at Wafu no Yado Masuya
in Shibu and went for dinner at Ramen Tokumi, which didn't look good but it actually had some of the best fried chicken I'd ever had!
The next day, we jumped in the car and headed from Shibu Onsen to Kusatsu Onsen. The drive through the mountains was absolutely gorgeous! Loved seeing the changes in the autumn leaves and even the snow at the top of the mountain. For reference, this was late October. We also explored the town of Obuse on the way back to Shibu.
So glad we decided to hire a car on our trip to Japan! I loved the freedom it brought (and it was also really nice to sit down after a week of running around seeing all the sights)!

We have such a homeless epidemic here in San Diego...wondering if this a problem here. Everything looks so clean and organized.

I think I saw one or two unhoused people in the entire two-week trip, and they were both in Tokyo. From the outside, it seems to a country that works a lot better than here in the UK!
